Only reason they are that high is thanks to the 60 other versions clogging up the iTunes top 100...this will probably be top 3 on the chart update but hopefully drop during the week

 

It will end up charting at 10 like their last single.

Under Control is maddeningly generic. Someone compared it to Don't You Worry Child the other week which is absolutely barmy.

 

Breach or Bastille for #1 this week.

Public Service Broadcasting's "Signal 30" and "Qomolangma" were just played at the end of the BBC's coverage of the F1. Any sign of it in the chart ? :P

Under Control isn't the best Calvin Harris track I've ever heard. Compared to most of his stuff it's actually pretty mediocre.

I think the album release will do the opposite of helping them - 'Story Of My Life' won't be getting any more sales from the album pre-order which must account for a reasonably sizeable chunk of their sales. I agree it'll likely re-enter the top 5 though, at least midweek.

Thing is that it IS a strong song so won't sell just from the fans or of the 1D name.

It's impossible to know at this point how much of its sales are from the fans and how much are from casual buyers. For all we know it's living almost entirely off pre-orders and for a song with that sort of a boost its performance has not been particularly special - lowest peaking pre-album single to date.
