By the weather we are having so far in November it's a similar pattern to last year. Wind and storms with floods for us and all the snow in North America :(

Is Rachel Stevens in the 2004 video of it? Can her vocals be noticed in the song?

I never really noticed.

Also, being aware of the fact that it's Christmas wouldn't actually help them.

I don't think that's what the song is trying to say. With all heartbreak and disaster going on, it goes against everything Christmas is about, so with this atmosphere you wouldn't think it was Christmas.

In regards to The Hit Parade's comment about most Africans not being Christian, it may not be the main religion but I'm sure a huge group of the population are Christians.

Around two thirds of the population of Ethiopia are Christians, the famine in that country was of course the reason for Band Aid in the first place.

So to answer the question 'Do They Know it's Christmas?' Yes, they probably did.....

So that goes back to the point I was making: they're going through a struggle and heartbreak day in and day out, so Christmas Day may just seem like another day.

This

you can pre-order this on itunes now and it mentions adele is involved. she could have done her part separately.
She couldn't be bothered by the sounds of it

She could've done it separately though. Didn't Robbie Williams record his separately for the 2004 version?

Both Robbie and Dido recorded from different countries last time.
I wouldn't say it's been changed for PC reasons. Given that this campaign is to raise funds for ebola, the two reasons I can think of for changing it is a) it is implying that ebola is a punishment from God, which isn't a very nice thing to say, or b) given the spread of ebola, it's very much possible that it could be us, as well as them very soon.

And besides, the song still keeps the lines, "but say a prayer, pray for the other ones", so it's not like they've completely excised the religious elements from the original.

yes, agree, totally. Band Aid was a new way of trying to get people involved in raising money for a good cause, it wasn't designed to be High Art, it was knocked together quickly and achieved success way beyond it's modest aims. The point of the new record is back again to Bob Geldof. Since the current generation of pop stars are too self-involved tweeting and fanbase nurturing career progression to organise/co-erce others into donating time to what is a terrible and ongoing tragedy, it's left to the old-timers to do it again.

The only thing that matters is that money is raised quickly and provides as much help as quickly as possible. Which is more than most politicians in the world have done. Anyone who can't see the point is free to sit on their arse and do nothing, too, but as far as I'm concerned I agree with Geldof that rich countries who have done nothing need naming and shaming - they are the same ones screwing Africa of it's natural resources for eff all benefit to Africa, so they can just go f*ck themselves in terms of selling me any of their products.

Gotta make a moral stand sometimes....

I'm not really that surprised Adele didn't end up being involved, she seems to like keeping a pretty low profile. Slightly disappointing that she was announced as part of it and ended up not being on it though.

Youtubers Joe Sugg and Alfie Deyes are next to the old man at the top

Next to Ellie is Jessie Ware and next to Ed is Youtuber Zoe(lla) Sugg I think..
