Awh i have to say i am truly disappointed with this new version, i honestly expected it would be better than Band Aid 20 as i hated that version but its worse. Thankfully i do love the original and the 1989 version so i will stick with listening to them, but purely out of what its for i will buy a download and a phyisical version as its all for such a much needed cause. The opening clip on x factor was shocking, it really provided a very real insight into how much the money is needed.

oh my god. this version is AWFUL! those who did try just sounded lifeless and the rest sounded so self-indulgent / out of place / bored. only bit i liked was rita ora's belting note bit!!

there is no spirit in this version at all, it sounds like a funeral march.

I second this. I don't get the hate for the BA 20 one. I really quite liked it :(

I can't see it making the Christmas Number one now. Apart from the fact it's crap they have released it far too early. There's stacks of records that will come out in the 3 weeks before Christmas, that could easily shift more copies than this. It's alright Geldof saying buy several copies, but if you want to do that you will have to buy the CD's. As once you have purchased a download from the same store you can't buy it again.

Sam Smith's bit is the worst but Rita's random belting part omg!!!!

They should have just done a new song, they had a month or so to get it out before Christmas. I agree it's just very dull and plodding, it sounds like half of them can't be bothered and they were just like "oh for it's for charity so we'd better".

Oh, I did like Olly's line too

This will probably get taken down, but for now, here's the video:

They really should have just gone completely over the top with a thumping Calvin Harris production/Pitbull "Yeah, picture Ebola with a Kodak!" rap/IT'S FUUUUUUUUUUUSSSE/etc. It would have been ridiculous but still for a good cause and amusing in a novelty sense.

I actually prefer this to Band Aid 30 for said reasons, if you're going to rewrite a classic at least go nuts with it.

Think this may have been mentioned earlier, but these are quotes about it perhaps not being the final version:

The man behind the project admits it will only be a rough edit for tonight's show. Bob Geldof who put together the fist song thirty years ago told Newsbeat:

"We'll have a rough edit on The X Factor and we'll have a rough edit of the film. Simon [Cowell], not many people know, but he always joins in on these things.

"He called me and said 'do you want five minutes on The X Factor?' Yes! So it may not be the finished single."

It's not very good is it? Ellie's part and Rita's warbling were excruciatingly bad

Band Aid 20 had much bigger pop stars doing the first few lines like Robbie, Chris Martin & Bono then all the current pop stars. This one just has the current pop stars so doesn't feel as big!

more to the point, this one has a selection of current pop stars, the one's who can be bothered to fly in and donate their time for a truly good cause - Ed Sheeran for instance went out of his way, so he goes up in my estimation. Those who couldn't be arsed go down.

It's not about how good it is, and waiting till christmas. waiting a month means more people dying, and the lyrics have been changed to reflect that, not how cheerful it can make everyone feel at christmas. It's not I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, and it isn't meant to be.

Just donate 99p download it and help save lives, all profits go direct. I doubt I'll play it much, but I will buy it.

I've pre-ordered my copy! Not as good as the original Band Aid but potentially better than Band Aid 20 (and I still haven't heard Band Aid II) depending on how it grows with future listens. Hope it sells really well anyway as it's for a v worthy cause.
I really like this actually, Ellie's and Rita's parts are probably my favourite actually. The only part I think is quite awful is Seal's, the line just sounds weird too. Really enjoying it and hope it can be big. Still wish one of Clean Bandit/Olly was headed for #1 with their own songs.
I really liked the sound of this last night, will definitely be downloading and buying a physical. I agree with what's been said about Ellie sounding a little out of place but that's more down to her very distinctive voice I guess, same for Dan from Bastille. LOVE Rita's belting though, that's my favourite bit. Ed sounds fantastic too. 1D less so, not sure what went on with them
Here's another pic including some more people such as Emeli Sande(?), 1D members (anyone else think Zayn looks like MJ?) and some more Bastille members etc.

Can't believe they didn't invite Pixie Lott along? Perhaps she was so busy trying to download "Caravan Of Love" to get it to climb into the Top 120.

Also: loving Bastille's jumper - he's wearing Jake's avatar. :D

People shouldnt be emotionally blackmailed into participating though. Lots of people there were probably only there for the publicity.

And this whole ebola thing isn't the worst thing happening in the world at the moment. More people die from starvation across the whole world but because rich people cant die from it it doesn't matter. I shant say anymore but my point being just because an artist turned it down doesnt mean a thing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this version. For me, this is my favourite of the re-worked versions.

There's only one little part in it, I'm not keen on. But that's to do with the style of singing that I personally find irritating, but I'm sure others will really like.
