What is the most modern Christmas song you could regard as a classic though?

I'm sure many won't agree with this but I reckon The Darkness - Don't Let The Bells End is up there.

I agree! I don't like how it's being forgotten and not been getting the airplay that the like of other "classics" get :(

I'd agree with that.

Seconded.

I think it could get to #1 on iTunes breifly tomorrow after she performs it on This Morning. :)

How much of an effect, if any, does This Morning have these days?

I remember from doing the prediction games that it typically has little, to no, effect.

Why has Leona increased so dramatically?

I don't think This Morning will have that much of a dramatic impact, I think it might increase the song by around 2%. ' One More Sleep' getting a top 3 peak might increase it's radio airplay next week.

Would love for Leona to get the official number 1, her first in 5 years!

Can't see that happening - it won't this week and even if it overtakes Avicii in the pre Xmas week (next week) the X Factor winner will be #1.

Top 3 is fantastic though!

Part of the reason is that it was used in TOWIE last night & played on BBC Radio 1 an hour or so ago. Another reason is its TV airplay & radio airplay are naturally increasing. Radio stations are taking note of the digital performance and upping their plays. :cheer:

I think if she can keep increasing, then This Morning might be the tipping point to get her to #1 on iTunes. Well I would hope so anyway. ^_^

Jon McLaughlin - Merry, Merry Christmas Everyone obviously.

Leona's song is awful IMO, it should be Kelly Clarkson's one doing this well :(

No wonder Little Mix got a big boost from Paul O'Grady! A performance like that on the X Factor final could probably have sent it top 10! :(
It doesnt necessarily mean itll become an xmas staple for example Britney Spears followed Mariah with her song My only wish this year but it is nowhere near a staple in the uk although i do hear it now and again!

That wasn't released a single though, at the time it was just an album track on a Christmas compilation released by Jive. I wish it had been released as a single with a music video!

Yeah thats true there isnt a video. But i meant there are some songs that chart well but dont become classics!

Warm this Winter by Gabrielle Cilmi is a modern xmas classic imo, its played every yr alot and i know its not necessarily an xmas osng but eh!

There it is on radio 1 now!

Has "Chasing Cars" been removed from iTunes, it isn't in the Top 1500!! :o
484. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

So no, it hasn't. :P

I don't think "song of the decade" will ever drop out the top 1500 tbh.

I think maybe wait until 'One More Sleep' has actually recharted even once before assuming it's going to rechart every year...? That's jumping to an even bigger conclusion than people who 'underestimated' it. (Note that I'm not saying it's not going to rechart next year, I think it does have a chance, but it's not exactly a foregone conclusion).

 3. Happy - Pharrell Williams

Hooray at this overtaking Jason :D Another mildly amusing coincidence from this as well, as a top 3 where the top 2 are Leona and Avicii is completed by a song called 'Happy'.

 28. Turn Back Time - Sub Focus

Still yet to hear this but I'm very surprised at a post-album single from 'Torus' looking likely to go top 40 after 'Turn It Around' had a 14-x run. Is this an instrumental or does it just have an uncredited vocalist?

 63. Riptide - Vance Joy

Thought the moment for this had passed but now R1 have picked it up it looks like it still has the potential to 'do a Gotye'. Another contender for an early 2014 #1 me thinks.

 75. Nightcall - London Grammar

FINALLY doing something! This should cement a top 75 position for it this week :D Deserves to be so much bigger than this though, absolutely gorgeous song, the clear highlight of the album along with 'Strong' and 'Wasting My Young Years' At least their album is still doing well even if the post-album singles have floundered a bit.

98. Too Much (feat. Sampha) - Drake

100. Too Much - Sampha

Interesting to see these 2 so close together. I like the Drake version as well but the original is much better.

Yea the new subfocus one is really good, unique compared to the rest and its alisted on radio 1 and played on capital too - should do well!
484. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

So no, it hasn't. :P

Oh, that's strange I searched (ctrl + F) for Snow Patrol and it only come up with "Run", Thanks.

Ooh yay for 'Turn Back Time' doing things for Sub Focus! I wasn't sure if it was going to be a top 40 contender so great to see it this high. And Bre, you should listen to it! :P It's quite different to his usual style (it's not drum n' bass/drumstep)
