Not including the X Factor winners track, I reckon it could be a climber, depends how long the track sticks around in the top 5/10.

Almost certainly 'Timber' I'd say, unless its release date keeps getting played around with.
Is the first week of 2014 the chart revealed on Sunday 29th December and officially dated Saturday 4th January, or the week after that (5th/11th January)?

The latter.

Timber for sure, if it's not the X-Factor single

I can't see Lily Allen, Avicii or OneD take it to be honest

It's hard to look beyond 'Timber'.

First and worst number one of 2014 without doubt...awful song :puke:

I hope Tsunami can get a week at the top but it needs to get a late Jan/early Feb release to do it!

If it's the week with the gift card effect, then maybe One Direction since last year all their songs got boosted hugely from it.
A few weeks ago I did post that I thought the first number one of 2014 would be 'Sail' by AWOLNATION but it seems to keep faltering - I expect it to stall in the new chart announced this afternoon then it will probably climb back up again next week. But while it may eventually still go top 10 it seems to have a lot to do to be number 1 in 4 weeks time.
Gorgon City. HOPEFULLY.
Not entirely sure about Timber, Pitbull's tracks are usually difficult to predict. For instance "Get It Started" I thought would be a nailed-on top 10 hit but failed to even make the top 40, whereas "Don't Stop The Party" hung around the top 10 for weeks and weeks.

Like most 'indie' style songs i think its only radio 1/Absolute that has picked it up on their playlists. Others like capital wont go near it - so like Imagine Dragons its chart run is a faltering one!

'Timber' has been a huge hit in the USA. The UK almost always follows big US hits.
