Another Love Song is by far the best thing from this era so far! I really like it, it's just what she needed after the rest of the era was kind of just "there" (although I quite like Thunder now).

'Another Love Song' is fantastic!

What are her label playing at? This should've been the first single with 'I Am' second and selling the album! :(

Another Love Song still slays after being on constant repeat :P
I think I just am not buying into countless songs about changing label. I know love songs are done to death, but it just connects with Leona and that's why it's the strongest of the era for me.

"Thunder"/"Fire Under My Feet"/"I Am" are the songs mainly about SYCO etc. The rest of the album you'll hopefully enjoy. We've heard half the album now:

"Fire Under My Feet"

"Thunder"

"I Am"

"Another Love Song"

"Essence Of Me"

Really can't wait to hear "I Got You" and "Ladders" in full. Not to mention "You Knew Me When"/"Power" sound like proper big Leona ballads. Also interested in what "Thank You" is like.

That's not to mention the deluxe tracks "Thick Skin" and "The Best And The Worst".

"Another Love Song" was given a spin on BBC Radio 1 just now! :cheer:
ALS should have been single 1. Yet again her team making stupid single decisions.

I'm not gonna start this here too (you can read the whole discussion on DS if you'd like) but ALS was originally planned as 2nd single.

Anyway, this doesn't mean Leona won't be releasing it as a single later. You never know :)

I know Fire Under My Feet didn't go according to plan, but I still feel it was the right thing to start this campaign off with. The only thing I would change is leave it as a buzz single rather than push a lot of promo behind it. I am surprised they haven't tried pushing the song to more advertising, specifically stuff like football as that is how the song would get out to a wider audience. The impact it had in America when it was bordering the top 100 on itunes was pretty much from its NBA promo. It is stuff like that which gets people noticing artists.

The issue with Leona is getting the right radio and TV support. Radio 2 is the biggest station in the UK, yet they are not the listeners that buy lots of singles (more album so hopefully that will get a good first week). Leona needs to do well in America again first, which if she does manage will no doubt bring her back more press here, and with that hopefully more support. Without capital or radio 1 backing then anything Leona puts out right now, including ALS is not going to do well in the UK.

Another Love Song is great! Why do her team always pass on the best single choices? It's getting ridiculous!

No, it did so well on iTunes originally because it was featured under Hot Tracks on the iTunes front page.

This is the third era now they've had a monster uptempo (Outta My Head and Glassheart/Come Alive) but released "nice" ballads (I Got You/Lovebird/Thunder) instead :( Of course this era isn't over so they could still release Another Love Song, but still, it's like they're afraid to diversify her a bit singles-wise (Collide aside which didn't do too badly anyway especially when you compare it to FUMF :P) :/

I didn't think stuff like that really makes THAT much impact. I get that it makes it easier for people to notice new tracks from artists they like or find songs they have heard in passing but wouldn't think many people go out of their way to listen to all the stuff promoted on the front page.

Has Thunder been advertised under that at all yet?

It's more about the message Leona wants to bring before releasing the album. The three singles all explain what she has been through and the reason why she recorded the album in first place. I'm pretty sure they'll release the other songs after this. Probably YKMW in Winter as a big ballad and then ALS or IGY in January

It does. "Fire Under My Feet" and the remix were both under hot songs on the front page of US iTunes (didn't have to scroll) and the former almost went top 100 and the latter around #400ish. When both were taken off hot songs, they left the top 1500. Same with "Thunder", but that you had to scroll (so it wasn't visible on the front page) and that peaked at around #450ish and when taken off left the top 1500. It makes quite a small/significant impact on the song's position on iTunes.

I personally only connect Fire with the label change fiasco; it's all about perception I guess. Thunder may easily fit in with her previous "love" songs.

Am I alone in thinking that these songs are just not that good?

Yes.

I think 'I Am' is the only weak link so far. 'Thunder' is brilliant, 'The Essence of Me' - while not being that single-worthy - is a song I consider to survive being overplayed, 'Fire Under My Feet' had/has huge single potential but I do think the production lets it down. 'Another Love Song' is also a solid up-tempo but I don't think it matches the brilliance of 'Shake You Up' and 'Glassheart'. It is, on the other hand, far better than 'Collide' (taking the amazing Afrojack remix out of the equation).

I am in the middle. I think FUMF is VERY weak. I think 'Thunder' and 'I Am' are both nice, listenable songs, whilst slightly preferring 'I Am', because of it's beat. 'Essence of Me' sounds great to me, but I haven't heard it in HQ yet. 'Another Love Song' is a huge step up from the quality of the rest of the material so far, and I think, from what I've heard 'Ladders' will be just as strong.

I'd say it's going to be an uneven album with some weaker moments but filled with plenty of good to great stuff. But that's normal for any artist, I guess. My favourite albums of the year so far (Froot, Communion) both include a couple of songs I see as 'not good'. The only worrying thing here, is why management are choosing what they're choosing for singles.
