Biography

R&B vocalist Jason Derülo launched his career while still in his teens, first as a songwriter for other artists and later as a solo performer. Born to Haitian parents in Miramar, Florida, Derülo started singing at an early age. He attended performing arts schools in Florida and took some early stabs at music composition, writing his first song at the age of eight. His writing skills began attracting attention, and by his teenage years, Derülo had begun scribing tracks for artists like Lil Wayne, Pitbull, and Pleasure P. He also wrote "Bossy" for Birdman, a New Orleans-based rapper, and made a guest appearance on the song, which highlighted his ability as a vocalist.

After signing to a subsidiary of Warner Bros., Derülo began making the transition from behind-the-scenes songwriter to mainstream performer. His first hit arrived during the summer of 2009, when he wrapped a sample of Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" (a song made popular by its appearance in the second season finale of The O.C., as well as the Saturday Night Live sketch Dear Sister) around a sleek modern soul beat. Titled "Whatcha Say," the song topped the Billboard charts and cracked the Top Ten in multiple foreign countries, including Canada, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.K. A second single, "In My Head," peaked at number five in America, and Derülo's full-length debut album arrived in early 2010. Future History followed in 2011, along with its hit single “Don't Wanna Go Home.” ~ Jason Thurston & Andrew Leahey, Rovi / iTunes

91k for Robbie, 79k for Gary.

So 1D must be very close to overtaking Sande then?

Non too bad so if Xmas week had a full week build up Robbie May well have done 200k for the week! Glad his albums been massive I predicted in October he would have the Xmas no1!!

The Monster only needs to chart at 3 and 8 to complete a top 10 complete positions.
So they're not doing a Year End chart this year? :o

Maybe on Monday or Tuesday!

It's not appropriate.

Why? It's a chart show, who the hell cares if the person presenting it has opinions on the songs? It's really not that serious.

Yay to Em.

May rise higher again with the video out now!

I'm pleased Sam Bailey is still top 4! :D

I thought it was obvious she'd be top 4 lol. I think she'll be at #1 or #2.

Seriously? Pretty impressive always thought the Peter Kay song that did poorly on downloads but did loads of CDs around Xmas was there for ages too!

I'm not sure where that was at this point. I don't re-call it spending too long in the chart. I'm sure it had a big fall somewhere along the line.

Trumpets, :puke2: please stop climbing!
May rise higher again with the video out now!

The music video for The Monster came out 17th Dec. The video rose from 10 to 5 over 2 weeks. Impressive as it is, it won't get any higher because I think that's the max that the video hype has. Unless, Em comes out of nowhere to do something to promote the single.

Trumpets is really growing on me

Biography

Cleverly using dance music blogs as the platform to launch his career, Tim Berg, aka Avicii, has since become one of the most prominent producers on the burgeoning Swedish house scene. Born in Stockholm in 1989, Berg only started making music at the age of 18, writing and remixing tracks in his bedroom and then leaking them onto various blogs. Influenced by Daft Punk and Steve Angello, his melodic house sound gained a huge following, and led to support from Tiësto, who invited him to perform a weekly residency at Privilege in Ibiza, and Pete Tong, who released first single "Manman" through his Bedroom Bedlam label. After he remixed tracks for Little Boots, Robyn, and Dizzee Rascal, Berg's first mainstream release, the Ministry of Sound instrumental "Seek Bromance," became a huge hit across Europe and later in the U.K., thanks to a vocal version featuring Amanda Wilson. In 2012 he released the song "2 Million" after reaching that number of followers on Facebook, while his single "Le7els" and its accompanying video were nominated at that year's MTV Music Video Awards. Towards the end of 2012 he released his highly-anticipated collaboration single with Nicky Romero. "I Could Be The One" was a smash hit and was featured heavily on reality TV shows and radio play across Europe. In 2013, Avicii teamed up with Ericsson and creates the first "crowdsourced" track which enabled the producer to connect to fans and promote his brand. The single "3 Million" was released to celebrate the 3 millionth fan on his Facebook page. "Le7els" was nominated for the Best Dance Recording at the 2013 Grammys but lost out to Skrillex & Sirah's "Bangarang". Ahead of his debut album #TRUE, he released the single "Wake Me Up" in June 2013. Featuring Aloe Blacc, it reached the top of the UK Charts and confidently showed off his new musical direction. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi / iTunes

Not enjoying this song from Jason as much as some of his previous ones.

Breathing > What If > The Other Side > Whatcha Say > Ridin' Solo > Talk Dirty > In My Head > Don't Wanna Go Home > Fight For You > Trumpets > The Sky's The Limit > It Girl

Seriously? Pretty impressive always thought the Peter Kay song that did poorly on downloads but did loads of CDs around Xmas was there for ages too!

Omg I remember buying the physical for that, it parodied the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album. It had two weeks at no.1 but only 4 weeks top 10.

Sams physical sales must be pretty strong. I was expecting it to be at #3.

Hope Pharrell is at #1.
