I don't know why you guys like this Jameela woman. She goes on and on about how amazing Katy Perry is, even though it's the chart show and the presenter isn't supposed to have an opinion, then she acts all indignant when pointed out she doesn't even know how many albums she's released. She's worse than bloody Reggie.

Oh I didn't know you wrote the rulebook for the chart show :D I think she'd have been told by now if she wasn't allowed to state her own opinion.

I new Roar was gonna be massive but I never thought it would be this massive!! I'm am really really surprised Ellie's new track is doing as well as it is. Especially as itvwad for children in need. This surely must be one of the highest earning CIN tracks so far?
I wonder what the last Children In Need (Official) song was to stay in the top 10 for this long?

Shane Ritchie's I'm Your Man was still Top 10 on this day in 2003.

YAY this has been a huge success with the gift cards - hopefully this can help push it to ~800k. Amazed with the longevity, and I can't deny even as a huge Katy fan, I find it funny that this is 20 places above her current single.

It's good for the single but the album is in danger of disappearing quickly without a second big hit!

I cannot believe that HLWILY Has been top 10 for 7 weeks. Thought its chart run would be 5-10-18-30-Out sort of things. Bloody Ell. Wander how Halcyon did this week.

Unpopular opinion but

HLWILY is lovely and definitely better than the overrated burn imo.

I really prefer Ellie's ballads for some reason except Anything will happen which is also great :P

Biography

Lily Rose Beatrice Cooper (née Allen; born 2 May 1985), known professionally as Lily Allen, is an English recording artist and actress. She is the daughter of Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. Allen abandoned school when she was 15 and concentrated on improving her performing and compositional skills. In 2005, she made some of her recordings public on Myspace and the publicity resulted in airplay on BBC Radio One and a contract with Regal Recordings.

Her first mainstream single, "Smile", reached the top position on the UK Singles Chart in July 2006. Her debut record, Alright, Still, was well received, selling over 2.6 million copies worldwide and brought Allen a nomination at the Grammy Awards, BRIT Awards and MTV Video Music Awards. She began hosting her own talk-show, Lily Allen and Friends, on BBC Three. Her second studio album, It's Not Me, It's You, saw a genre shift, having more of an electropop feel, rather than the ska and reggae influences of the first one. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and the Australian ARIA Charts and was well received by critics, noting the singer's musical evolution and maturity. It spawned the hit singles "The Fear" and "f*** You", popular mostly in Europe. Allen and Amy Winehouse have been credited with starting a process that led to the media-proclaimed "year of the women" in 2009 that has seen five female artists making music of "experimentalism and fearlessness" nominated for the Mercury Prize.

In 2009 Allen announced that she would be taking a hiatus from musical activities. During 2010, Allen opened a fashion rental shop "Lucy in Disguise" with her sister Sarah, followed by the 2011 launching of her own record label. In 2013, Allen revealed that she had begun working on her third studio album. On November 12, 2013 Allen premiered the video for her first original song since 2009, "Hard Out Here", which will be released as a single on November 17. - Wikipedia

Discussion Thread Here

2-1-4-1-1-6 has to be the strangest chart run all year!! Or on par with one republics 3-1-3-1-3
'Hard Out Here' really should have been bigger, they really should have got slightly more radio friendly edits out faster IMO but I think it would have always been overshadowed by this anyway, perhaps a February release for it would have been better.
Somewhere Only We Know  Far from being her best but still a gorgeous song. If only Hard Out Here got more success. :(

Who pointed it out on the show?

I think most of Ellie's singles are better than Burn, sadly.

No, people have just said they sound like other songs, there are no copyright issues that I've heard of anyway.

Roar still sounds AMAZING, as does HLWILY. Amazing longevity for that, thought it'd be low top 40 by now :o

Actually, there was talk about The Who wanting to have the song removed from Youtube and thinking about taking legal action. Well that's what I read. And plus, it doesn't take a genius to notice massive similarities to other songs.

Shane Ritchie's I'm Your Man was still Top 10 on this day in 2003.

They always used to last until after Xmas did they not?

How rude are some people!!
