I agree with gooddelta and T Boy. Thanks to NOW easily getting the rights to all the massive hits of the moment, songs that just miss the top 10 or hang around the bottom of half of the top 40 get overlooked which is a shame, because some of those songs are better than the UK Number Ones.

Do you think Warner are going to boycott the NOWs from now on or will we see Clean Bandit on NOW 88? I'm wondering if WMG are thinking of doing their own HITs series.

You have to wonder what else they'd fill it up with though, besides the 10-15 missing songs!

True. They'd probably just fill the rest of track listing with old songs from 2013-2014.

Let's not forget that by 2003 the Hits series were really beginning to scrape the barrel of 'hits' with more record labels involved!

Quite surprised about this tracklisting.

Bit dubious of John Newman being added when the single is likely to flop.

5 Seconds of Summer being so high up on Disc 1 is a strange one too considering it's not been released and may drop out of the charts after its frontloaded sales have kicked in.

Wrecking Ball was so obviously missing from Now 86, but I suppose it's not a surprise now that Now albums tend to be behind in keeping up-to-date with some songs. (Then again, if they've got double Little Mix this time around, then double Miley last time should've been a possibility?)

As surprising as it is that Clean Bandit is missing, we're yet to see Macklemore & Ryan Lewis appear on an album!

Probably won't be buying this though, too many 'outdated' tracks or songs that were minor hits for a brief period. Just doesn't excite me like it used to

This is a completely random observation but on all of Now 45, Now 57 and Now 58, Kelis and Jamelia were sequenced next to each other on the tracklisting  It's happened on a number of other compilations over the years too, I wonder if it's some sort of inside joke between compilation compilers, or maybe just a strange coincidence that they kept having hits at exactly the same time!

Sadly NOW 66 didn't do that with Lil Star and Beware of the Dog. I guess both artists songs flowed quite well next to each other.

Yeah. But I am worried that they'll stick with more recent songs again. I remember NOW 00s first disc was nothing but 2008-2009 songs. But you can't deny, that's one amazing cover.
They've not even used PROPER GRAMMAR on the cover
I hope the track list is decent. But it'll probably be way too recent because they want to entice youngsters to buy it.

Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and Beyonce were in the exact same order in that sequence for Now 65 and 66.

2000-2003 & 2005 & 2007 were probably my favourite years of chart music (thanks to the NOW 40's, 50's & 60's for helping me discover a lot a few years ago!) so I REALLLY hope they include quite a bit of old stuff, but sadly I don't see this being the case. :(

My favourite years for music of the 21st century are 2000-2001, 2006-2007 and 2009-10.

2000 was best for dance music, 2006's summer was AMAZING for pop, the second half of 2007 was just wall-to-wall incredible, 2009 was high quality throughout and 2010 had a higher than average number of 11/10 type songs.

Have they completely run out of themes for the spinoffs? They might as well just release a compilation called 'Now That's What I Call Songs!'

I'd agree with Rich that 2009 was a solid year, I mean a year which starts off with the fantastic "The Fear" at #1 for 4 weeks is always going to go well. (Where did it all go wrong Lily Allen?) But 2007 was pretty good too, parts of 2011 and I'd argue 2005 too which had some pretty amazing 'blink and you miss it' Top 40 hits.

2006 was a pretty dark period especially on the official chart. Chico at #1, 17K for a #1? Oh dear..

Also we haven't had a #1 with >5 consecutive weeks at #1 for ages now, I think "Bleeding Love" was the last one (seven weeks at #1). Arguably "Moves Like Jagger" and "We Found Love" should have been 6 weekers (possibly more), maybe "Somebody That I Used To Know", "Someone Like You" and "Blurred Lines" too?
