February 12, 201412 yr Probably just short? Still pretty impressive for them though! I reckon it'll be really close this week between Zedd & Clean Bandit. I want Zedd to keep #1, but they'll be a long way behind by Sunday.
February 12, 201412 yr I want Zedd to keep #1, but they'll be a long way behind by Sunday. I am astonished they're #1 at all - they've never been ahead of CB on iTunes...
February 12, 201412 yr 'Feelin' Myself' is doing a lot better than I thought, both in terms of first week sales and longevity - that said it did have a pretty enormous sales slump last week despite only dropping two places. It's actually growing on me again now after I'd become totally bored of it by the time of its release. Glad to see Dapper Laughs on the chart now :D Would be hilarious if he held onto top 10 but that's unlikely if he's only #8 today.
February 12, 201412 yr I am astonished they're #1 at all - they've never been ahead of CB on iTunes... If iTunes was a 24 hour rolling chart, it's likely they'd have got there on Sunday. Seeing as it isn't, and Clean Bandit have been selling more consistently (+ they had Saturday sales included on the Sunday feed), they never got to #1 despite being the most purchased song this week so far.
February 12, 201412 yr I hope and pray that Le Youth can hang on to the top 10 until Sunday, but I've got a horrible feeling its going to end up at 11/12 but I've got my fingers crossed
February 12, 201412 yr I am a bit surprised about Zedd being number 1 as well! I do think Clean Bandit will retake the lead by Sunday though. Chances for 5 straight weeks at number 1 for Clean Bandit?
February 12, 201412 yr Chances for 5 straight weeks at number 1 for Clean Bandit? Unless Pharrell's Brits performance boost (or the marginal chance of Sam Smith) prevent it next week, it could well do until Route 94 come along (which would mean Jess Glynne knocking herself from #1 :o)
February 12, 201412 yr I am a bit surprised about Zedd being number 1 as well! I do think Clean Bandit will retake the lead by Sunday though. Chances for 5 straight weeks at number 1 for Clean Bandit? i think it's unlikely with 'Say Something' out next week. but still, 4 weeks would be really quite amazing!
February 12, 201412 yr Unless Pharrell's Brits performance boost (or the marginal chance of Sam Smith) prevent it next week, it could well do until Route 94 come along (which would mean Jess Glynne knocking herself from #1 :o) Jess Glynne = the female Pharrell.
February 12, 201412 yr Jess Glynne = the female Pharrell. It does look that way so far. :o Now all she needs to do is release a huge solo single later on in the year...
February 12, 201412 yr Unless Pharrell's Brits performance boost (or the marginal chance of Sam Smith) prevent it next week, it could well do until Route 94 come along (which would mean Jess Glynne knocking herself from #1 :o) Oh yes, I forgot the potential Pharrell BRITS boost. i think it's unlikely with 'Say Something' out next week. but still, 4 weeks would be really quite amazing! Say Something is a number 1 contender? Fantastic!
February 12, 201412 yr I don't think 'Say Something' is likely to debut at #1 but it could be one that climbs there after a few weeks, like 'We Are Young' perhaps. Expecting 'Money On My Mind' to top the chart next week or failing that a 5th week for Clean Bandit (which would incidentally be the first 5 week consecutive run at #1 of the entire decade - 'We Found Love' had 6 weeks at #1 and 'Someone Like You', 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and 'Blurred Lines' had 5 each but all four were split over two runs).
February 12, 201412 yr OCC have put Clean Bandit's sales at just under 38k this week. Any chance of 100k this week? Probably no chance this week Rather Be was on 47k last Wednesday & just under 60k on fri mids and just broke 100k it'll prob do 90k at best!
February 13, 201412 yr The SNP government in Scotland have introduced legislation covering the singing of certain songs - including this one which Celtic fans like to chant - at football matches so this is part of a protest campaign. Thanks. I understood a bit more by looking at their twitter feed. It's fair to say that Paul Williams, who wrote the Music Week chart update yesterday, has completely the wrong end of the stick about the song! I don't think he realises how controversial it is at all!
February 13, 201412 yr Oh yes, I forgot the potential Pharrell BRITS boost. ISTM his potential Brits boost has been overplayed here - with over 800k already sold, mostly to the same demographic who are likely to be watching the Brits, I don't see too dramatic a boost myself.
February 13, 201412 yr ISTM his potential Brits boost has been overplayed here - with over 800k already sold, mostly to the same demographic who are likely to be watching the Brits, I don't see too dramatic a boost myself. The BRITs always gives a big boost to performers and considering he's already riding high in the chart, I think it'll just boost him back to #1 again sadly. Would love to be proven wrong but I don't see that being the case.
February 13, 201412 yr Author I don't think 'Say Something' is likely to debut at #1 but it could be one that climbs there after a few weeks, like 'We Are Young' perhaps. 'Say Something' screams fun. to me - the male vocalist has a voice identical to Nate Ruess. I'd love for it to make #1, I can see why some would find it boring but when you're in the mood for it, it's quite touching and just a lovely, simple song.
