Posted March 15, 201411 yr Seemed like an interesting topic for a poll. I've made it multi-choice, and I dare say I may have missed out at least one other source obvious to everyone but me. :)
March 15, 201411 yr YouTube usually for me. And if hearing a short preview of a song on iTunes or Beatport counts then that as well. Same with finding a song via Buzzjack. Also sometimes spotify and rarely radio. I only ticked YouTube though
March 15, 201411 yr Almost always YouTube/Vevo, and a listen is usually prompted by reading about certain songs on Buzzjack! I only have a couple of music channels, which more often than not are playing old music videos or reality TV shows anyway, and I don't listen to the radio much at all.
March 15, 201411 yr More often than not it is radio or TV, although I'll look through the release schedule here each week and look for any music I may be interested in. On a few occasions I've found some really good music on YouTube adverts (the ones you can skip but have the song in full) - most recently I've discovered Imelda May's 'It's Good to Be Alive'.
March 15, 201411 yr Either in the music forums here on buzzjack or, more commonly, on various blogs or hype machine.
March 15, 201411 yr Music forums and blogs for me, so I'd say Youtube. Spotify sometimes as well. I can't remember the last time I first heard a song on radio tbh
March 15, 201411 yr It varies for me. Mostly online (music blogs, forums such as this one, YouTube, VEVO, streaming services, etc.), sometimes radio, sometimes from someone. Edited March 15, 201411 yr by FM11
March 15, 201411 yr Can't remember the last song (other than some widely anticipated releases on here) I didn't hear first on the radio...

Also sometimes spotify and rarely radio. I only ticked YouTube though Same as me, though before Radio 1 went mad, deciding to reduce the average age of its listeners, I used to rely on radio to find new music I'm a mixture of you tube, radio and Buzzjack though I also use iTunes if something appears on pre order or a midweek release etc
March 15, 201411 yr Either radio, my friends, at parties, in clubs, or in the gym. I don't often actively look for new music, but I go to places where I often hear new music. Like I make sure to listen to Rinse FM or Radio 1Xtra or priate stations in Birmingham where I hear lots of new songs very early (some of which end up in the charts).
March 16, 201411 yr Author Sometimes I'll even hear stuff first via the chart show! That's definitely the case for music I'm unlikely to like. ;)
March 16, 201411 yr Buzzjack or YouTube (and occasionally the iTunes pre-orders, especially on the Dance chart)
March 16, 201411 yr Twitter or FB, if a song is making waves then people will either post it or talk about it. Then I either watch the vid on youtube or preview it on itunes.
March 16, 201411 yr Mostly here actually these days, but I frequent a number of blogs (my first and favourite still being Goodweatherforairstrikes which is what is now Neon Gold) and listen to 6Music where if I don't have internet access is where I can hear new stuff that I'm likely to love. I think blogs would be my top source.
March 16, 201411 yr I hear quite a lot of chart stuff first on the radio (partly why I still listen to the chart show religiously these days), mainly for artists I don't really care enough to go out of my way and Youtube. However, Buzzjack, Youtube and other blogs are my main points for finding new, non-chart music and future smashes from new artists waiting to blow up. It's nice to at least cherish a song before the radio gets their hands on it and hammers it ad-nauseum. Do people really first 'hear' music via downloading? I'd never download a song either way until I've heard it first. Edited March 16, 201411 yr by Chez Wombat
March 16, 201411 yr If it's an artist I already like, I download the new song/album illegally to check it out before buying. If I'm looking for new music, then it's Youtube or Spotify.
