Were the Tuesday album figures from a reliable source? They had Sam on 15.7k after one day and today's figure would mean she sold a further 9.2k yesterday which seems unlikely . Or maybe she had big promotion or something? Regardless, if she's sold 24.9k in two days, she should easily break 40k officially (which I had doubted based on Tuesday's figure).

They are both from the same reliable source, so either there was an error in the Tuesday figure somehow or yes, she sold 9.2k yesterday.

Ok, thanks - the Tuesday ones were from Unreality TV but I presume they were the same as the usual/reliable source.

Yes, I assume they got it from the same source :P This dickie bird gets around a lot.

These days? It's always been like that (maybe more prominently since the early 90s, but these sort of acts have always been riding high in the chart since then).

I think he's talking more specifically in the past 10 yrs when the start of the download era showed the charts going back to its roots with the way songs were released but in the past 2 yrs most songs have went back to the old style release system (1993-2005)& I hope the rumours of a price rise on another thread doesn't go ahead or it'll be similar to the very late 90s cd rises!

Random boy bands have been appealing for years and getting flash in the pan number 1s (New Kids on the Block, Bros, Westlife, McFly, Busted, countless others). This is nothing new (sadly).

I would much prefer dance number 1s, but its all down to mass appeal and marketing at the end of the day.

Flash in the pan number ones? For a music forum some people are clueless! Didn't Westlife have 14 no 1's? These dance songs are flash in the pan number ones!! The hate this week for is incredible beyond believe....people saying it's sad and the marketing is ruining music etc. Can people start being adults, we are in a position now where the charts are probably the most serious they have been since early 90's. No Bob the builders etc would get to no1 now. Everyone should stop being like overreacting kids and Abdul should get help. As I've said, the song is not my cup of tea but good and good on them for getting to no1.

tbh it's quite sad to see songs supposedly going to number 1 like this, this is not really a true reflection of music right now. Can you honestly say deep down in your hearts that She Looks So Perfect is the most symbolic song in music right now? what happened to the days when #1 songs signified a specific time in life or in a particular season or year?

It seems all you need now are a load of screaming teenage girls and your instantly number 1. The UK chart is losing it's heart and soul imo.

You need help or to learn about the history of the charts. Your probably about 10 but if you somehow remember the early noughties you might be able to edit your post. I'm not being nasty but 99% of your posts are laughable.

I doubt 5SOS will drop any lower than around #6 next week. Its airplay will probably rise a fair bit since it's heading for #1 (plus Radio 1 are likely to playlist it this week)

Airplay means nothing if your fanbase are the only ones buying it - just ask Kylie...

I supect it'll set a record iTunes drop by Saturday evening, at least.

I am not clueless. I am very well aware that Westlife had many one week fanbase bought number 1s, thanks :) Now, get your own blinkers off and stop lashing out at those with a different opinion to you. Take your own advice on over-reacting, eh?

Yep, 5SOS are definitely #1 now!

Duke Dumont should sell about 70k by the end of the week in total (the sales for Saturdays might be really big for them).

But where 5SOS are going to fall next week? With the Radio 1 support and #1 hype they should hold on in the top-10 for the second week.

I'm not even a a Westlife fan but have followed the chart for years and understand them. I'm not a fan of 5SOS at all either but find it strange that there is so much hate for a number 1 that is actually a song unlike all this dance stuff. People have an opinion yes but I can comment and say when that opinion is incorrect. Abdul saying the UK charts is a mess because of this song going to no1....please agree that is a joke.

Kylie will be out of the top 10 albums by the weekend for sure. The album is going to bomb....

not sure about bombing...... it got to number 2 and also should sell another 6-7k this week .... I think next week sales should increase with some promo and if you look at the other albums released same week then she is doing not too bad!!!!!

plenty more to come from this album yet. Positivity......

She's doing Graham Norton's first episode next weekend, which should boost her back into the top ten.
But it's Kylie we're talking about who has always sold a very respectable amount of sales. The new album won't probably even reach 100k. Yes, we know about the sales climate but there's more than that - the single has also underperformed.

Because dance songs aren't songs?

And a little dickie bird has flown in, one of my little elfs will step in... :D :P

I'm not sure if they all are, but my HMV has both copies of 5 Seconds Of Summer's physical. Can't remember the last time I saw a CD single in there (X Factor winner aside) so there must have been high demand.

I was tempted to but both to add to my collection, though decided against it. :P

Duke damont to be number 2 on sunday.
