 23. Your Love - Frankie Knuckles

It appears that despite this clearly being a very well-regarded song (how else would it be this high on iTunes) this only peaked at #59 on release, so it seems likely it'll reach a new peak this week. His biggest hit was 'The Whistle Song' which reached #17.

Your Love's beat got used in one of the versions of You've Got the Love which was a big chart it. There's so many versions I don't know which is which, but I've heard it lots of times on Heart FM.

G'won Frankie Knuckles! Even if it's climbing for the wrong reasons :(

And yeah it was The Source/Candi Staton's version of You Got The Love which samples Your Love

Any sign of "Downtown Train" by Everything But The Girl or "Heaven" by The Walkmen? If you've watched the finale of How I Met Your Mother, you'll understand why I'm asking.

"Heaven" by The Walkmen is at #627.

No sign of 'Downtown Train', I'm afraid.

I hope both versions of Human keep on rising cause I'd love Christina to reach a new peak this week or the next. Shame the Ed Sheeran duet doesn't seem to be top 1500 though :(

Its Album-only

'Be My Forever' NEEDS to be the a single at some point. It'd be huge, not only because of Ed, but because it's ridiculously catchy and radio friendly.

It seems like a lot of attention for someone who only had 1 career T30 hit.

I think it's more the influence that he leaves behind not only as an artist, but a DJ, remixer and producer. He is well known for his remix of Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart'. I am happy to see him finally get a chart peak as a tribute to his work.

I have the usual uneasy feeling I get, whenever the first I've heard of someone in the music industry is when I read their obituary (because people are often incredulous that you haven't)...

[i hope everyone remembers I wasn't following music at the time he was apparently charting]

I think you need to brush up on the history of dance/house music.

Ooh 5SOS  to #9, didn't notice that :cheer:

So they're 'only' 8 places down on last week?

Even today some of the biggest music stars aren't getting into the charts, so I can imagine it was the same just back then.

As said, the music of 'Your Love' formed part of the original version of 'You Got The Love' which peaked at #4 in 1991. So technically Frankie did have at least one top 5 hit, just with someone singing over the top of it.

Odd for him to pass away just as the house sound he pioneered 25-odd years ago becomes a major chart force again.
