April 6, 201412 yr I wonder how much American Apparel paid the writers of "She Looks so Perfect" to have their brand so prominently in the chorus of the song?
April 6, 201412 yr I think that it doesn't deserve this fall..There were much worse songs in the past..And they were No.1s..
April 6, 201412 yr 'Can We Dance' dropped 2-10 and we know how that turned out #justsayin. They won't have that longevity, already down to #15 - but a couple more weeks inside the top-40 are guaranteed.
April 6, 201412 yr 9 11 04 Enrique Iglesias Featuring Pitbull I'm A Freak Sex And Love | 2014 http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music4/v4/54/20/1b/54201b28-ed2c-1fd3-11a9-53ebd0c57350/13UAEIM71572.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 4-9-11-9 Release date: 09-03-2014 Format: Digital single Label: Universal International Music Sales: 90k+ Video here: YUiVIPgJA0o Biography At the dawn of the new millennium, Enrique Iglesias was the best-selling Latin recording artist in the world. The son of multi-million-selling singer Julio Iglesias, Enrique was born in Madrid, Spain, where he lived with his mother, his brother Julio, and his sister Chabeli. In 1982, his mother sent them to live in Miami with their father. While there, Enrique was exposed to three different cultures and musical influences: Hispanic, European, and American. Iglesias' own career started when he was still attending Gulliver Private School, a very prestigious school in Miami. He made his singing debut in a production of Hello, Dolly, after which he began practicing his singing without his parents knowing. After a year studying business at the University of Miami, he decided to follow his passion for music. In 1995, he sang in person for his soon-to-be manager, who at Iglesias' insistence of not wanting to use his family name, first shopped his demos as an unknown Central American singer named Enrique Martinez. It wasn't until he earned a record deal with Fonovisa that Enrique told his father and mother of his aspirations. Then he flew to Toronto, where no one knew him and he could concentrate just on music, to record for five months. That first album, Enrique Iglesias (1995), sold more than a million copies in three months (it earned him his first gold record in Portugal in a mere seven days) and to date has sold more than six million worldwide. The second album, Vivir (1997), enjoyed global sales of more than five million discs and launched his first world tour, backed by sidemen for Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel. In a mere three years, Iglesias had sold more than 17 million Spanish-language albums, more than anyone else during that period. (The U.S. was his biggest market.) He also won the 1996 Grammy for Best Latin Performer, 1996's Billboard Artist of the Year, Billboard's Album of the Year for Vivir, two American Music Awards, a World Music Award, eight Premio Lo Nuestro awards, two ACE Performer of the Year awards, and ASCAP prizes for Best Composer of 1996 and 1997, in addition to countless accolades around the world. With 1998's Cosas del Amor, Iglesias moved to more mature content; his earlier material had been written when he was 17 years old. Then came Enrique, his first Interscope album and first in English. It achieved gold or platinum status in 32 countries and brought his global album sales to a total of more than 23 million. In 2001 he released the follow-up, Escape. Iglesias alternated Spanish- and English-language albums during the next two years, first offering the ballad collection Quizás in 2002, then the mainstream English record 7 in 2003. Four years later the single "Do You Know (The Ping Pong Song)" announced the coming of his 2007 album, Insomniac. After a Spanish compilation in 2008, Enrique released Euphoria in 2010, which gained attention on the strength of the singles "I Like It" and "Heartbeat." Besides touring, he released three non-album singles in 2012. In 2013 he began to issue pre-release singles for his next full-length. There were four in all, three in collaboration with other artists — "Loco" (featuring Romeo Santos), "Heart Attack" and "El Perdedor" (featuring Marc Antonio Solís), and "I'm a Freak" (featuring Pitbull) — all of which charted. The album, Sex and Love, was released in March of 2014. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): Enrique Iglesias 1999 04 Bailamos -1- 1999 45 Rhythm Divine -2- 2000 07 Could I Have This Kiss Forever (Whitney Houston and Enrique Iglesias) -3- 2002 01 Hero -1- 2002 71 Escape {Import} 2002 03 Escape -2- 2002 12 Love To See You Cry -3- 2002 12 Maybe -4- 2003 19 To Love A Woman (Lionel Richie Featuring Enrique Iglesias) 2003 11 Addicted -1- 2004 05 Not In Love (Enrique Featuring Kelis) -2- 2007 03 Do You Know? April 6, 201412 yr 'Can We Dance' dropped 2-10 and we know how that turned out #justsayin. I love this post. Not entirely sure how 5SOS' drop is hilarious, it's been known for well over a week now? Likely gonna have decent longevity and respectable sales anyway so who cares, and it got #1 anyway which is all that matters :cheer:
April 6, 201412 yr How on earth is 'I'm A Freak' back in the Top 10? It would be nice to see him go back to his roots of Hero, Escape, etc......
April 6, 201412 yr Not entirely sure how 5SOS' drop is hilarious, it's been known for well over a week now? How could I forget that massive drops are only funny for less than a week.
April 6, 201412 yr Of course this will probably hold up better from now on, but that doesn't make the drop any less hilarious. (Don't think it'll hold up as well as 'Can We Dance' anyway though). They won't have that longevity, already down to #15 - but a couple more weeks inside the top-40 are guaranteed. Yeah I know I just wanted to channel my inner fan-girl for a bit :P.
April 6, 201412 yr Enrique's success is amazing, I would never think he'd score yet ANOTHER top-5 in 2014! And it's not like his songs are something which stands out - generic stuff at most.
April 6, 201412 yr 08 08 11 Clean Bandit Featuring Jess Glynne Rather Be New Eyes | 2014 http://a4.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music6/v4/2c/42/26/2c42267b-2ff1-f712-9133-a68a8dba133c/825646347636.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-3-3-3-5-7-8-8 Release date: 19-01-2014 Format: digital single Label: Warner Music Sales: 700k+ Video here: m-M1AtrxztU Biography Rather than the usual bombast or snooze-inducing "relaxation music," the U.K. six-piece known as Clean Bandit mash classical music and pop forms for an airy and dreamy yet driven sound that's like the chamber music version of house music. The core four-piece of the group were known as the Chatto Quartet, a classically trained string quartet that performed J.S. Bach and cited Jacqueline du Pré as an influence, but their post-show, wind-down music often consisted of garage, two-step, Craig David, and Arcade Fire tracks. The quartet members were aware of both producer Jon Wandeck and MC Ssegamic through the duo's work in photography, and when Wandeck suggested they play on one of his house music cuts, Clean Bandit were born. With MC Ssegamic on the mike, they released the classical-meets-house-meets-hip-hop-meets-heartbreak song "Telephone Banking" in the summer of 2011. Their Dance Armstrong mixtape followed in 2012, while 2013 saw the release of their Mozart's House EP. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): Clean Bandit 2013 17 Mozart's House -1- 2013 43 Dust Clears -2- 2014 01 Rather Be (Clean Bandit Feat.
