I don't like any of the bands Jameela mentioned in that list (apart from Mayday Parade, who I've never heard of) and guess what, I don't like this either.

I'm not surprised this has held up *relatively* well since the initial second week plummet but it's still pretty far from the run 'Can We Dance' had (that was still #16 by this stage of its release and that was without even reaching #1). One thing I didn't expect though was for it to actually hold up better than 'Changes'. Kudos for that I guess. :P

Biography

Although the first solo single from soul-inspired, London-born artist Sam Smith was issued in early 2013, it was his soaring vocal contribution to Disclosure's October 2012 U.K. garage track "Latch" which brought him to most people's attention. For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes

I'm not sure this is the new tune. But I wonder why this tune made the top 40?

I have no idea how 'Money On My mind' is still charting. It is so boring :(
The first time I heard 'She Looks So Perfect' it was quite pleasant until the 'in my American Apparel underwear' line, at which point I cringed violently and turned it to mute. However, now that I've lived with it for a while, I can appreciate the quality of the song so I hope it continues to stick around.
Still like 'Money On My Mind'. I just hope 'Stay With Me' is his second solo UK number 1.
So happy for Sam Smith, love this song and it's message :yahoo:

Agreed. If more people closed doors when they went home, there'd be far less robberies.

Last Night    The best song in the chart right now, so infectious. Stunning album from them also, best of the year so far.
I think the chart run of 'Last Night' kind of proves that The Vamps are really a fan base act :( although their album is holding up good :o
The verses of Last Night grate on me a little for some reason. I think it's because I prefer Brad's voice in a lower register. Anyway, the chorus is great.
