Biography

Swedish singer/songwriter Tove Lo was born Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson on October 29, 1987 in a suburb of Stockholm. Beginning to write poetry and short stories at a young age, she went on to study at the famous Rytmus Musikergymnasiet — a music-oriented high school comparable to the U.K.'s BRIT School — where she met and befriended the future members of Icona Pop. After singing in the band Tremblebee, made up of students from the school, and a spell playing one-man-and-his-dog nightclub gigs as frontwoman of a math rock band, she decided to focus on her own songs, spending six months in her shed studio working on a demo. Upon the occasion of a party celebrating Icona Pop's first record deal, she used the opportunity to foist the demo on a staff member at their label, leading to a publishing deal with Warner Chappell and a trip to L.A. to work with fellow Swede and pop songwriting/production supremo Max Martin.

Lo gradually developed her own idiosyncratic style of epic, electronically tinged songwriting with raw, brutally honest lyrics, influenced as much by '80s pop as by contemporary EDM. In 2012 she self-released her debut single, "Love Ballad," a catchy, beat-driven pop track that showcased her powerful voice. It was followed in 2013 by "Habits," a dark breakup anthem that generated such Internet buzz that it led to a deal with Universal. "Habits" and its follow-up, "Out of Mind," which was much in the same vein, appeared on her debut EP for the label, Truth Serum, in 2014. - iTunes

Loving the Hippie Sabotage remix of 'Habbits'!

4 weeks top 10 for 'Stay High'

And Paloma Faith has officially at least matched her previous highest peaking single! :o

Didn't think Paloma would make it this high but now she has I want her to be higher than Pitbull

...maybe not :(

Edited by TheSatsLadyGaga

Would never even expected this to be T40 for a single week, not T10 for four weeks !

Glad it's been successful even if it's a lil boring now

#FunFact - Stay High has now occupied all the positions from 6 to 9. Hopefully it falls to #10 next week.

Still sounding quite good this.

Album Discussion Here

This song is stunning. My #1 this week! Deserves top 5 tbh

Most beautiful I've ever seen her sound?

I didn't realise you could watch sounds Jameela!

Yay second top 10 single from a Perfect Contradiction!

Only Love Can Hurt Like This is even better than Can't Rely On You!

I thought people were being silly implying this even had a chance of becoming her highest selling single a few weeks ago but it's looking increasingly likely that could actually happen! Assuming 'Picking Up The Pieces' is her current highest seller?

This is already growing on me.

This will be the new "Black Heart" of the year!!! I'm sure that it will be her best selling song. It wasn't very clear before two weeks but it's so obvious now!
Really didn't think this would take off like this and turn the era around :o though it is a lot more faithful to her original sound and less divisive than Can't Rely On You.
