Posted May 19, 201412 yr Sunday Chart Predictions Predicting the 25/05 to 31/05 chart http://i61.tinypic.com/34djzw1.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/34dmypd.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/2hp0nch.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/so5l5g.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/2wcjj4h.jpg Some extraordinary sales for Coldplay! Critics' Choice seemed to get it right this year as following his #1 solo success with 'Money On My Mind' earlier this year, Sam Smith is looking to debut at that position again with the pop-soul ballad 'Stay With Me'. Also new to the Top 10 is, for me, one of the most bizarre acts to be successful - Fuse ODG, teaming with Sean Paul this time with 'Dangerous Love' - and Clean Bandit's follow-up to 'Rather Be', 'Extraordinary'. New entries elsewhere will be Afrojack's 'Ten Feet Tall' and, after being excluded from the chart due to being 'instant grats', Coldplay's 'A Sky Full of Stars' and 'Midnight'. Speaking of which, Coldplay's sixth studio album Ghost Stories is released this week and is poised to become the fastest selling album of 2014. All their previous studio albums have reached #1 and managed to sell more than 1m copies each. Key new entries to the Top 10 should be collaborative album of The Beautiful South members Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott and the 20th anniversary release of Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe, whilst R.E.M, California Breed, Bob Blakeley, Cherry Ghost and Cara Dillon among others should also make debuts. ======================================================= Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday. May 20, 201412 yr https://twitter.com/DavinaOG Just looked on iTunes, he seems to be creeping up very slowly, I think the highest he will get is #2, I can't see him challenging for #1. I think they will fall down to #4 by Sunday.
May 20, 201412 yr I think they will fall down to #4 by Sunday. I'm not so sure, Fuse is up to #2 on iTunes now so if he holds up, he can definitely take #2 officially. Fingers crossed!
May 20, 201412 yr I'm not so sure, Fuse is up to #2 on iTunes now so if he holds up, he can definitely take #2 officially. Fingers crossed! Mr Probz will gain from Thursday on, not sure about Rita tbh. Fingers crossed it won't. Fuse sadly is not really a creative artist imo :(
May 20, 201412 yr 82k for Coldplay! Coldplay's new album, Ghost Stories, is on course for the UK market's 2014 sales speed record after recording the biggest opening day of the year. Ghost Stories, which was released yesterday (May 19), has racked up in excess of 82,000 sales on its opening day, overtaking previous record holder, Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love, which had sold 44,000 at this early stage. The rapid start puts the UK band well on course for their sixth Official Albums Chart Number 1 album this coming weekend following; Parachutes (2000), A Rush Of Blood To The Head (2002), X&Y (2006), Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008) and Mylo Xyloto (2011) – which between them have sold more than 11.1 million copies in the UK alone. Coldplay have also scored two Official Singles Chart Number 1 singles in the UK, Viva la Vida (2008) and Paradise (2011). Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot says, "The arrival of any Coldplay album is always an event and Ghost Stories is no exception. To so comfortably achieve the biggest first day of any album is remarkable, especially after a three–year wait since their last album. Every one of Coldplay’s studio albums has achieved Number 1 status and Ghost Stories is on course to maintain that perfect record." Chairman of Parlophone and Warner Bros. Records UK Miles Leonard, who has worked with Coldplay for more than 15 years since they first signed to Parlophone in 1999, says, "This is another incredible album from a band at the top of their game. There is always huge anticipation ahead of a new Coldplay release so we wanted to be innovative and creative to make sure their fans all over the world are as excited about Ghost Stories as we are. We couldn’t be happier with the early response we’re seeing." Sunday's Official Albums Chart Top 5 also looks likely to include the new album by former Beautiful South mainstays Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, What Have We Become, Oasis's Definitely Maybe reissue and Michael Jackson's current Official Albums Chart Number 1, Xscape. In related news, former The Voice contestant, Bob Blakeley, who failed to make it past the blind audition stage of the competition, looks set to enter the Official Albums Chart Top 20 this weekend, with his debut album, Performance. http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/c...m-of-2014-3027/
May 20, 201412 yr Wow :o, that's fantastic. It'll surely do at least 170k then but considering its massive pre-orders, I'm not sure it'll break 200k. Still, much better than I (along with most here, I think) was expecting!

Still, much better than I (along with most here, I think) was expecting! I think that sounds a bit too high, I expect its sales to be pretty massively frontloaded but it should hopefully at least do 150k maybe. Hope I'm wrong of course :P We'll see how much it sells tomorrow and that should give a better idea.

I feel sorry for Leanne but HA if his album manages to go Top 40 when she couldn't break the Top 100. :kink:

Hope I'm wrong of course :P We'll see how much it sells tomorrow and that should give a better idea. Yeah, possibly. I was factoring in their Big Weekend show without realising that's actually on the Saturday night :D. Just found that Mylo Xyloto sold 95k on its first day, so they had a 2.19 multiplier there. A similar one would give them 179k but I'd imagine it'd be a bit lower this time.
May 20, 201412 yr Impressive debut day for Coldplay!!!! I predict at 140k by Sunday, but higher is extremely possible. Looking at kworb, the album is pretty much number 1 across the board. I wonder what the worldwide sales would be like in the first week?

May 20, 201412 yr After 82k on day 1, 200k seems very possible to me. It would need to multiply sales by a factor of 2.44, which generally wouldn't be a ridiculous concept but I think pre-orders were exceptionally high so it's highly unlikely IMO. I still hope it can do 170k though. Edited May 20, 201412 yr by Noahspike
May 20, 201412 yr 170K in these days it's insane! with 350K+/- in the US it's more than enough these days!
May 20, 201412 yr Sad both Paloma Faith and Foxes are gonna have a bit of a drop (especially the latter)
