Doesn't take long to get to #1 these days, Sing was just predictable. And with a big lead already. :drama:

Roll on Ella Henderson for 2 weeks. :cheer:

I know it was inevitable, but Ed Sheeran getting a no.1 is quite soul destroying especially if you consider he also has a million seller. Average and bland clearly sells.

Lol at how the top 2 reviews of 'Sing' on iTunes are 1* reviews by people who are fans of the song but just pissed off at the release date. It is rather ridiculous that everyone except people in his own country could buy the song weeks ago.

It's going to be one of the best #1s of the year.

The A Team > Lego House >> Drunk > Small Bump >>> Give Me Love >>>>> Sing >>> You Need Me, I Don't Need You

I have left out his unreleased material and collaborations (i.e 'Everything Has Changed', 'Hush Little Baby', 'You')

Nonetheless he's a great artists and I'm happy he's on his way to achieving his first No.1, it's just a shame it has to be with this song.

I disagree, but then that's the whole point of a discussion forum. Pharrell, Clean Bandit and Duke Dumont were all better in my opinion.

Bandwagon time?

I really wish he released more singles in the vein of 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' and 'Sing', there were so many brilliant more-uptempo tracks on '+' that weren't released as singles in favour of some weaker ballad tracks. I do really like all of his singles though aside from 'Drunk' which I got bored of (and no I didn't ever get bored of 'The A Team', always was and still remains an utterly gorgeous song).

Sing is going to be up there with the worst #1s of 2014 for me..Up there with Happy and the 2 Sam Smith tracks

Ooh you share the same favourite as me! Not come across anyone else who's rated so highly. I think 'Sing' could become my favourite though. The rest of his singles aren't my cup of tea, so it is a shame he didn't release any other upbeat songs if there were some on the album like you say.

You should look up 'Grade 8' and 'The City' (the latter in particular is one of my favourites on the album, it's not super uptempo but it has wonderful production, much more 'sonically interesting' than the singles).

I'm surprised that more people don't rate 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' highly, given how different it is from the rest of his songs! I suppose it's a song that you'd expect to be the favourite of people who don't like Ed Sheeran though as the main detraction from him is 'he's so boring!!1' (because he doesn't release his more interesting songs clearly ~) and that's his only single that doesn't fit the 'boring ballad' mould, save possibly 'Give Me Love' (and 'Sing').

Up to a certain point

I echo this post.

Bear in mind that Secondcity were only selling ~8K/day so Ed's lead will be made to look artificially large. Still on course for 105-110K IMO.

Say Lou Lou releasing their single just as it starts to grow off me. Won't be buying that one then !

I really like them all actually though except Lego House which is just ok, I LOVE Sing

:right: 8. Lethal Bizzle - The Drop (feat. Cherri Voncelle)

 26. Wilkinson - Half Light (feat. Tom Cane)

 37. Kasabian - eez-eh

 44. R3hab, NERVO & Ummet Ozcan - Revolution (Radio Mix)

1. Give Me Love

2. The A Team

3. Sing

4. Drunk

5. Lego House

6. You Need Me, I Don't Need You

7. Small Bump

All are pretty good though, very glad Ed's finally getting a #1! Will be one of my favourite #1s this year, alongside Rita, Pitbull and 5SOS.

Sing will be my joint favourite number 1 of the year along with Rita ora.

But then they'll both be overtaken by ghost-ella Henderson next week WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS OF THE PAST FEW YEARS

How do people rate 'I See Fire', out of interest? That's my favourite thing he's done (although I slightly prefer the Kygo remix to the original). Have liked all of his singles to varying degrees and I'm very happy he's getting his first #1 with 'Sing'.

Lego House is AMAZING

Sing is just okay really.

Ah that's more like it for Kasabian, should still be on course for top 40! I'm guessing R3hab/NERVO/Ummet Ozcan were higher on pre-orders but just left off the updates? I had heard of the song before release but had no idea it was set to enter the chart this week. Another addition to the Dutch domination of the charts recently (both R3hab and Ummet Ozcan are Dutch). More Dutch hits on the way from Oliver Heldens and Tiësto as well.

Oh as if I (and everyone else) forgot about that!

Update:

You Need Me, I Don't Need You >> The A Team > Sing > I See Fire >> Lego House > Give Me Love >>> Small Bump >>>>>> Drunk

'I See Fire' builds gloriously. Shame it wasn't a bigger hit here but it has had pretty good longevity at least.

Counting his features as well, 'Everything Has Changed' is my 3rd favourite song by Taylor Swift (out of the 3 that I like, the other 2 being 'I Knew You Were Trouble.' and 'The Last Time'), would probably rank between 'Give Me Love' and 'Small Bump'. Not a big fun of 'Hush Little Baby' and '(All Along The) Watchtower', both easily worse than 'Drunk' ('Hush Little Baby' being the worst thing he's released).
