I do like it when a song stays at #1 for a few weeks, but I don't like it when it happens all the time. The beauty of a song spending 4+ weeks at #1 here is that it rarely happens these days
So we don't need to see which no.1s are more popular than others? Please stop flying in and spouting your personal opinions on this topic as if they are facts for everyone else. A lot of us like long running no.1s.

For general popularity we have year-to-date chart, don't we?

Your interpretation of my opinions will not stop me from posting them.

Let's leave out phrases like 'the last thing we need' as if you are speaking for everyone. You're not.

Much more exciting to have a new entry at number 1 every week and every song in the Top 20 move down 1 position. Oh the EXCITEMENT!!!! 1

I'd rather that than a long-running #1 with every song in the top 20 being a non-mover :kink:

No, you'd rather have a load of pretty boys with nondescript completely interchangeable melodies occupying every position in the chart forever.

No, I'd rather have a load of pretty boys with really great songs that just don't happen to be to your taste occupying every position in the chart forever. ^_^

"pretty boys" is a bit of an overstatment when it comes to the likes of 5SOS though.

I'd actually agree for two of them :kink:

oops totally off topic, here's a "pretty boys" iTunes update, according to Joseph x

Long runners are boring. I mean who really wants to see less than 20 songs or whatever get to #1 in a year like in the US? Obviously in some cases like Moves Like Jagger/Love The Way You Lie they probably deserved it but it's a interesting chart anomaly that was quite funny to see play out for so long!

Even in the US (and probably other countries) where it's all long-runners at #1, they still have some of the biggest hits every year that miss out. Even some songs that were year-end #1 in the US missed #1 in the weekly charts. So people here can complain about it all they want, but it's just a fact of life that people need to get over. Not all the biggest hits will get #1, it's just the way it is.

To be honest, in the UK we've been pretty good with #1s in the past couple of years imo. Most of the biggest chart hits got there (apart from All Of Me, Just Give Me a Reason and Let Her Go?), whilst almost all the #1s have been actual big hits.

Like someone else said, if people care THAT much about what is "really" a big hit, they should just look at the year-end charts. They give a better idea of longevity, etc. A simple chart peak based on 7 days is never going to give the full story.

FUSE *_* It was actually released the other week, not sure it's had any huge effect on the song's chart performance though cause it did have a video doing the rounds on TV channels before that (related to a dance competition Fuse's team were running, I believe).
FUSE ODG has released the official video for Dangerous Love:

excuse me what

Yeah, I thought the Dangerous Love video had been out for ages too, but I guess it was just the unofficial video that I saw.
