I'd be lying if I said I agree with JT and Sugababes as songs from them are still coming - VERY strong songs regardless - but total yes for JLo, what a song

(Oops I'm slacking again.. that top 110 will come tomorrow!)

RIGHT, I got cracking with this at last, final part before we get into the top 100!

110. Christina Aguilera - Your Body (2012)

OKAY, hear me out! It does seem extremely unorthodox that this track is THIS high, a 2-week dent on the top 40 from her well-publicised flop album 'Lotus' above some of her classics. Some people may say that it's a bit trashy. Well who cares, for me this is so special because of the pure amount of joy that it brings. The production is a little bit more dance than I'd expect from a Christina single, but it totally works in driving the song along. This is lyrically fairly simplistic, but it just has this CHARM about it, like you listen to it and think back to a time where you liked somebody/or do now. A bit like 'The Monster' the little 'ooh-ooh-ooh' hook seems a little random but somehow works. Her vocals are also as on point as ever. So this is one of those tracks that is no masterpiece WHATSOEVER but the kind that you ultimately get swept away with due to how feel-good it is, like an essential pre-party song to get you in the mood. Sometimes I do like to take something a bit more basic over something pretentious but void of emotion. Guilty pleasure!

109. Dido - White Flag (2003)

From a bit of trashy Xtina to the far more laid-back Dido. I've absolutely adored this song since I was really little. It's quite courageous and extremely REAL, depicting the tough times in relationships opposed to sugarcoated tales of love. So, it talks of loving somebody you were formerly with, not being with them because of your mistakes, understanding their point of view about the situation and accepting that what's done is done - things will never be the same, but you'll always love them. It's a very mature outlook, and is powerful in the sense that it's very melancholic but at the same time... satisfying. Dido's vocals are just wonderful, extremely complimentary of the song as she sounds very strong but with hints of sadness. WHAT a chorus.

108. Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? (2003)

I know many people don't really feel the love or find this overrated/overplayed. However, I've always personally really admired it. The Black Eyed Peas with a little uncredited help from Justin Timberlake (oh look, he's sneakily managed to pop up again!) finally broke out into commercial success thanks to the widespread appeal of this track. The subject matter is pretty self-explanatory - the title pretty much sums it up, with a negative outlook on the world where they ask where exactly the love is when there are still so many issues today, and they ask for 'guidance up above' because is this really how things were supposed to be? Well, this is no new concept whatsoever, but for some reason I really do like their take on it. The opening instrumental already begins to strike a chord with me, in fact the instrumental throughout really is quite harrowing. As are the lyrics of course. Here I really like will.i.am's delivery, it's extremely raw for me, JT tackles the chorus well, and Fergie rounds it off to then launch into the next verse. The other two members' contributions don't really do anything for me though. While I can understand that it comes off preachy and depressing, I just take it as beautiful (maybe due to my continued optimism?) and extremely real, because like so many others they want things to improve. Such a simple but effective chorus. I really did love their Elephunk/Monkey Business singles on the whole.

107. Sugababes - Caught In a Moment (2004)

I literally cannot stress how much I adore the Sugababes 2.0 line-up. The one thing I really did love about this line-up was excellent delivery of such strong choruses. Here is a prime example of that. 'Caught In A Moment' is definitely something I'd class as hauntingly beautiful. Something I did NOT expect Heidi Range to be capable of, with her, let's face it, rather papery thin vocals. When I said excellent delivery I largely meant Keisha and Mutya for the best part. But here she surprised me extremely, the entire effort is so classy and stunning from her, with the others bringing it too on the verses. All about being caught in a moment pretty much, but going into a more detailed account of what exactly that's like. Easily accessible, romantic and with a strong chorus to boot.

106. Eric Prydz - Call On Me (2004)

On paper I shouldn't love this as much as I do. I adore dance music, but usually not of the looping variety that was becoming all too common in 2004. However, there's just something about this that makes it absolutely iconic and stand out amongst the rest of that period! Eric Prydz is clearly some kind of producing genius because so far I haven't heard a track from him that I haven't liked in his relatively small repertoire. He delivers on production duties, providing a pumping beat and bass initially with other elements slowly coming in. The "I'm the same boy I used to be" part is so subtle but works so well as a euphoric build up to the chorus! Ultimately a feel good bit of unusually GREAT loopy dance. Iconic video as well, it's stapled itself as an essential workout song!

105. Girls Aloud - No Good Advice (2003)

I remember discovering this song on my dad's karaoke machine CD and then BEGGING my friend to lend me her copy of Now 55 so I could import this into the computer (which thankfully was no longer dial-up). This cemented my love for Girls Aloud. Anyway, that initial childhood awe of the song has stuck with me right up to now. Xenomania was definitely the right way to go for the girls, ultimately production that is interesting and just like the song, pop with a bit of a darker, feisty edge opposed to full-on squeaky clean bubblegum pop. Absolutely infectious bridge and chorus, Girls Aloud as well as Spice Girls and Sugababes 2.0 consistently have memorable, HUGE choruses just like this one. Also, I usually find spoken parts in songs a bit cringe, but the one in this song TOTALLY worked as an outro - very rebellious and full of attitude. Absolutely brilliant follow-up for them.

104. Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman (2004)

This section is very 2004. Anyway, WHAT a pop song! The vocals, lyrics and even the beat are extremely sensual. But that's what Kylie seems to do best sometimes - adding a bit of sensuality to her songs to spice them up a bit. Anyway, firstly the bridge in particularly SOARS right into the chorus with the elongated note. The chorus is an absolute delight to the ears - extremely catchy and playful - this woman means business!! Although the 'Fever' era is incredible and the HUGE one for her, I do have such a soft spot for this era too - with this, 'Slow' and even a bit of 'Chocolate'. Changing up her sound a bit kept her so fresh and interesting, I have a lot of love for noughties Kylie.

103. Eminem ft. Dido - Stan (2000)

Double Dido this section - who could want more? Anyway, I think this definitely had ALL the correct ingredients for a monster hit. Interesting concept, straight to the point lyrics, realism, a female vocalist bringing the chorus and of course, what Eminem does best - controversy. Of course it's not exactly pleasant to hear all the controversial things in the song, but he takes his realism to another dimension. I find myself really absorbed into the story of crazed fan Stan, his girlfriend and just his general thoughts. Cue a sample of Dido's 'Thank You' to make this more commercially appealing and shaped more like your typical song with verse-chorus-verse structure. Although this really is something special. The production as well as Dido's vocals really elevates this as well.

102. Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (2007)

I didn't initially really get this one at all from the Welsh rock band and found it far too repetitive. However, it ended up growing on me so much over the years. Firstly, I love how there's no building up necessary as the title is loudly expressed in the first sentence alone! I love the lyrics being chanted, and then Nina Persson comes in with her gorgeous vocals to belt out her parts. It has a rather unconventional structure but it totally works for me. Great instrumentation as well.

101. Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head (2001)

Just before we crack into the top 100, there is another Kylie track in this section! This song is her biggest single of all-time and helped elevate her onto even further success. Personally I've never found it overrated and always thought it deserved that title. The pulsating production is mesmerising alone and then her sultry-as-ever vocals help elevate this with the words. The song does exactly what the title says as it's such an ear worm. A modern classic, with the video of course earning that status too!

'Red Blooded Woman' truly is fantastic, and I believe there's still at least one more Kylie song to come! Fair enough, I've seen a few haters of it on here I think  Thanks for commenting <3

Ooh glad to see you're really loving this section! Yes I completely second what you said about 'White Flag', just wonderful. Ooh yay glad to see another 'Where Is The Love?' fan, although it was huge the NOW 56 rate really brought out how many people on here dislike it! But yes exactly, a FAR cry from some of the dross he puts out these days (A couple of tracks like 'Bang Bang' and 'It's My Birthday' aside) & yay such good songs!

Aw glad to hear it, and I believe there are two more Lana songs still to come! There were about a further two that didn't quite make the cut as well, her stuff is so good though!

Add me to the Where is the love LOVE In my top 3 BEP songs <3

White Flag is just lovely but I do prefer other songs by her such as Life For Rent, Here With Me. Stan is a major highlight from both Eminem and Dido's discographies too.

Call on me though. Takes me back to school haha. Such a classic video!

Hopefully more Kylie on the way ^_^

Hiya! YAY for other Where Is the Love, lovers <3 I can think of two other BEP songs to come so it's in my top 3 too I think! Well tbh I actually hardly know any of her discography (oops) but from what I've heard I do really adore 'White Flag'. I really should give 'No Angel' a listen, especially as my parents own it! 'Stan' is just breathtaking, my favourite Eminem song ever! YES 'Call On Me' is wonderful, funny video  Yep I can think of at least one more Kylie song that is coming! Thank you for commenting <3

Top 100 time...

100. Olly Murs - Dear Darlin' (2013)

Arguably a bit too high considering how new it is and that technically it's nothing ground-breaking? Perhaps. However, sneering away from snobby technical reviewer, I REALLY like this. It did also top the Olly rate on here! After following Olly eagerly throughout his career, it was really quite refreshing to see him go in another direction. We know him for his pop moments, but he does sometimes experiment with other genres for his singles, namely the reggae influences on 'Please Don't Let Me Go', the swing of 'Dance With Me Tonight' or hip-hop influences on 'Heart Skips a Beat' - which is why it shouldn't surprise me as much as it should that this is more breakbeat. But I think it was the experimentation with the piano. Honestly the instrumentation of this track is so gorgeous. It boasts a beautiful bridge, chorus and melodies and it's quite refreshing to see Olly's more vulnerable side again opposed to his cheeky chappy persona that I know and love also. With a little help from Ed Drewett, this really is something special. A surprise hit that turned out to be a grower. He manages to work the letter format of the lyrics in a song without it sounding dated. It was an absolute pleasure to hear him perform this live too. Love love love.

99. Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight) (2000)

Into the double digits now! A song that doesn't have very many alterations throughout, simply almost the same words repeated three times following a bit of instrumental each time. However, I do love a bit of dance and a bit of soppy. This track is very romantic and although bordering on loopy dance, much better than some of the offenders of 2004. This seems a bit harsh for my 99th favourite song EVER! But I guess there are no technical reasons like creativity why I like this - because really I find it appealing due to the bold and catchy production, the soulful vocals and the feel-good factor. Yes for one of the breakers of the 1 week number 1 curse of 2000 as well!

98. John Lennon - Imagine (1975)

It's no secret that I love the Beatles. I'm not too keen on some of their solo stuff, but I really do love John Lennon quite a lot. I find him to be a fascinating human being, so of course I did venture out into a lot of his solo stuff as well. When I was a child I actually used to hate this because I found it really depressing! But as I got older and learnt more about him and opened my mind a bit (8 year old logic = sad songs = awful and depressing!!) I really did become quite fond of this. I love a lot of his more vulnerable efforts as well, with #9 Dream being another particular favourite. This track encapsulates everything that John wanted the world to achieve - peace, love, unity etc. The lyrics and the piano throughout are harrowing, but stunning all the same. It was by awful circumstances that this ended up reaching number 1, but at least he did end up with a few incredible chart toppers in the end. Gorgeous.

97. Eric Prydz vs Floyd - Proper Education (2007)

Maybe I just have weird taste or something, but I was absolutely shocked at the lack of love of this in the Now 66 rate! This was the first time that Pink Floyd ever accepted a sample of this, and I'm pretty glad! I found the original - 'Another Brick In The Wall, Part II' to be interesting with the whole concept of 'Pink' building a mental wall - with the incidents cause him suffering being the 'bricks' in the wall. However, my love of dance led me to really appreciate this version as well. It chops it up in all the right places for me. The lyrics still stand, but the production completely elevates them to a new level. Really imaginative production for this, I love the beat throughout and the little things added in like the guitar strumming at one point. Just a treat to the ears, great remix.

96. Jay-Z ft. Kanye West & Frank Ocean - No Church In The Wild (2012)

Oh my gosh where do I even start with this! Okay the production - featuring guitar riffs, drums, synthesisers AND a HUGE beat throughout. It is absolutely striking. There are many familiar themes here like loyalty and religion, with raw delivery, particularly Kanye who sounds very angsty. The stand-out for me on this though is Frank Ocean with his soulful vocals. WHAT a voice, he carries the hook so well and makes it so memorable. Also, the bridge is rather auto-tuned but even THAT is gripping. I love all the little touches as well, sonically this is amazing. Just wow!

95. The Beatles - Ticket to Ride (1965)

One of the groups many U.K. number 1's, from the album Help! Even though everything prior Revolver isn't particularly seen as groundbreaking, I adore this! It seemed to get a really good crowd reaction too - the Shea Stadium performance in particular was MENTAL and really encapsulated how popular they were at the time. Anyway, John takes lead vocals which is great as he is my favourite vocally. The meaning can be a little ambiguous I guess with obviously more promiscuous meanings and then others like as Paul said: "a British Railways ticket to the town of Ryde on the Isle of Wight". But onto the song itself - regarding instrumentation I adore what the electric guitars bring to it. John delivers on vocals really well - the chorus is really quite brief, but then you have the 'my baby don't care' bit at the end too where the vocals are a bit shaky but it's still charming. Tbh the whole thing is just very oddly charming and uplifting.

94. Lana Del Rey - Video Games (2011)

Ooh, Lana's stunning debut! Lyrically it definitely comes across as a guy who doesn't really care for her, and she tries to get him to love her, but yet he ignores these advances and carries on with his video games. The entire effort is haunting and stunning - with the usual retro Lana production opening it to a chilling effect. Her persona seems in the wrong era as she's so classic - tragically glamorous, in fact. The entire track is just so heart-wrentching yet gorgeous. Her vocals are so raspy and wonderful, and this was the start of great things to come, thankfully!

93. OutKast - Ms. Jackson (2001)

A GREAT piece of hip-hop here, such a modern classic already! The track tackles the aftermath of a separation/divorce in a relationship, and how this usually results in not exactly the best relationship with the former lover/their former lovers mother, hence the 'Ms. Jackson' character (Quite the opposite of 'Stacy's Mom'. But yeah this is just wonderful - brilliantly executed with ever-so-soulful vocals from OutKast as always, really smooth and cool chorus from them too. The production compliments it wonderfully. Quirky video too!

92. Ashanti - Only U (2005)

That riff is EVERYTHING. Wow, just so powerful and bold, it completely makes the song. I've always been a fan of Ashanti's sweet vocals as well, and they really work here with the also very sweet lyrical meaning - as she pretty much sums it up with "Only you can make me feel, and only you can take me there" so a certain someone that you like and makes you feel all these feelings. Great up-lifting track, the production seriously is fantastic. Noughties R&B was seriously AMAZING, and this is just one step further with the electronic rock influences too. Brilliance.

91. Audio Bullys ft. Nancy Sinatra - Shot You Down (2005)

For AGES I recognised this song from the radio but could never quite put a name to it, so I was delighted to discover it after revisiting now 61 a few years ago! David Guetta copycats out the way, THIS was how to remix it, and very original at the time as well (ooh snap). Like 'Why Don't You' earlier in the countdown, I just ADORE dance music with a retro sample, taking something very classic and making it all modern is a brilliant combination. Sinatra's vocals are so chilling, as is the production - particularly the gunshots. So powerful and like 'Proper Education' in the countdown, chopped up just right!

Right, I'm just gonna cut the NOW references and get straight to the point here. Wow.

Favourites among these include:

106. Eric Prydz - Call On Me (2004)

102. Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (2007)

97. Eric Prydz vs Floyd - Proper Education (2007)

94. Lana Del Rey - Video Games (2011)

93. OutKast - Ms. Jackson (2001)

91. Audio Bullys ft. Nancy Sinatra - Shot You Down (2005)

Yup. I'm a big fan of dance samples too. There was something in the air during the mid-00's which caused a lot of old skool songs being sampled. But it just felt so right!

Ooh Ms Jackson  fabulous to see it in your top 100.

Very legendary video to Imagine. For me he's done better though ;)

Modjo I still hear a lot on radio. Great dance record, 2000 was a big year for dance hits though much like 2014 strangely enough

Dear Darlin though   I think it's my favourite Olly track now. I do wish Busy went top 40 officially though I really really loved that as well :( Should be back with new music soon :P

Haha well I am a huge now fan and actually know off by heart which ones those are from  (59, 67, 66, 80, 49, 61?) Haha tell me about it, only just realised that two were in this section - the ones that were done well were brill! Thank you for commenting :D

Yesss Ms Jackson is brilliant  Still one more to come from them though :kink: aw tell me about it, so understated! I'm slowly going through all of John's back catalogue and discovering more and more gems from him. I actually heard Modjo on heart the other day, glad to see it's stood the test of time! IKR literally most NOWs from that time are absolutely littered with dance - very obscure ones towards the end  YAY glad to see Dear Darlin' is also your fave Olly song. OMG yes I was gutted when 'Busy' flopped :( I remember going to his first arena tour and it was the week 'Busy' came out and he was urging everyone to buy it and my dad said 'you watch, this will be a big hit' aw bless, SUCH a good song - I blame it on high album sales. Yay can't wait - hopefully an X Factor performance too! Thank you for commenting :D

'Imagine' really is such a classic, a gorgeous one at that.

HAHA thought you'd be appreciating the Lana :P She truly is wonderful, great song for all the reasons I stated ^_^

Thank you for commenting <3

WOW that 94-92 run of Video Games-Ms. Jackson-Only U is a highlight for me! All brilliant. You're right about Ms. Jackson being a classic but I'm even more partial to the later Outkast singles...Hey Ya, The Way You Move, Roses  I'd love to see any of those appear later but they're already represented in a big way so it's all good! :D And I enjoyed your Only U commentary in particular-- 'bold' is definitely the right word there!
