After a few listens, I'm really liking this. With One Direction, I either like or dislike their singles. They've released a few duds IMO but this is not one of them. :D

Definitely one of their best singles, probably in their top 2 best with 'Story of My Life' for me. This mature sound really works well for them and it's great they are showing progression instead of re-making previous hits as they did with 'Live While We're Young' for example which definitely was an attempt to recreate the success of 'What Makes You Beautiful'.

On first listen, I'm liking it. Not quite up there with BSE or LWWY for me though (what's with the shade for that song?!) but it's decent. Can see it being a huge grower too!

 

The instrumental chord progression is SO similar to something else. It's annoying me so much.

I was thinking exactly the same when I first played it... but a few comments say it "samples" (it doesn't, at least not credited :lol:)

 

 

Which I can definitely see (although I don't think I've ever heard this song, so I don't think it's this one that I was thinking of). Then someone mentioned Journey - Faithfully... which is what I think I was thinking of! Bruce Springsteen definitely came into my head too though! But I just think it's the NFG song done in the same key as Journey's 'Faithfully' :lol:)

It's virtually identical to that New Found Glory song's piano melody! Hayley Williams and the guitarist of that band have picked up on it on twitter :P Not a bad song though, hardly their best but I agree it'll likely be a grower.

Well they recorded the video 2/3 days in a national park near L.A and update accounts say it's not Ben Winston who directs the video.

I'm expecting the video to look very 'American', if that makes any sense. :lol:

No X Factor performance this weekend, let's hope they perform next weekend.

They'll probably be holding off until the album's release week, but of course they could perform at any time really.

I was expecting and hoping they would promote their single this time as non promoted singles from the last album were flopping big time and a X Factor performance could help the song a bit in the charts.

That's true. All the fans will be jumping onto this like crazy though because they've been touring all year and it's the first thing we're able to get our hands on since the 'Midnight Memories' campaign ended some time ago. I don't think they've got anything to worry about with this single, especially seeing as it appears to have a fair bit of crossover appeal already, too.

I guess you are right. Still a shame Capital FM still haven't played the song after they had the first play.

I'm hoping we'll get the video this Friday ahead of the UK release on Sunday. They need to have the video in rotation I think to help them with the number 1!
