In last place is Boyzone with Every Day I Love You More, which was their final appearance on a Now album in their original line up. Martine McCutcheon covered Yvonne Elliman's 1976 hit song 'Love Me', and was taken from her debut album 'You, Me and Us'. Montell Jordan also features on Now 45. He is famous for hit 1995 classic 'This Is How We Do It', but had another chart hit with 'Get It On Tonite'.

 

Those on here who remember the year 2000 will certainly remember the 'Kevin & Perry Go Large' film. Starting out as popular characters from the old Harry Enfield's sketch show, which was on the TV in the late 90's. 'Big Girl' was released as a single to promote the film and reached Number 16 in the UK Top 40, and spent 4 weeks in the charts.

 

Rounding off this section are the Cuban Boys with C vs I.....or otherwise known as 'The Hamster Dance Song'. It was championed by the late John Peel on his Radio 1 show, and peaked at Number 4 on the Christmas Chart 1999.

DJ Luck and MC Neat had a few hits back in the year 2000, and 'A Little Bit Of Luck' was the first of them peaking at Number 9 in the UK Top 40.

 

Precious had their second hit single with 'Rewind' in March 2000 following up 'Say It Again'. The original Atonic Kitten are next up with their Top 10 single 'See Ya' and Fierce's cover of Sweet Love 2k is rounding off this section.

Sisqo's rather raunchy hit 'Thong Song' is a little lower than I expected. I thought it was very well liked, but there you go! Lock 'N' Load's dance anthem 'Blow Ya Mind' originally reached Number 6 in the UK Top 40 back in April 2000.

 

Daphne & Celeste's Ohh Stick You was a big novelty track at the time peaking at Number 8 here in the UK. Hands up who remembers their follow up 'U.G.L.Y?'

Nu Generation sampled the 60's classic 'Rescue Me' and scored a Top 10 hit with it at the start of the year 2000 and rounding off this section is a ballad from the Backstreet Boys.

Starting off the Top 20 is Tom Jones teaming up with Welsh Rockers The Stereophonics for 'Mama Told Me Not To Come'. Peaking at Number 4 in the UK Top 40 it was another smash lifted from his 1999 album 'Reload', which believe it or not it Tom's best selling album to date.

 

Next up we have a random dance track that samples Madonna's classic 'Papa Don't Preach'. Progress hailed from the midlands and Everybody stormed the UK singles chart in late 1999. Jamelia's debut and breakthrough hit in the UK 'Money' featured Beenie Man and makes the Top 30 on this weeks Now Rate.

 

Next up we have the Vengaboys, with 'Shalala Lala'. Not one of their most well known tracks, but it did reach Number 5 in the UK Top 40. I was quite gutted at the time of Now 45's release that 'Shalala Lala' made it instead of 'Kiss When The Sun Don't Shine'. :lol:

 

Rounding off this section is the last charting appearance for the Tamperer feat. Maya peaking at Number 6. 'Hammer To The Heart' sampled Abba's 'Gimme Gimme Gimme', which Madonna also sampled on 'Hung Up'.

Into the Top 25 we go and starting off is S Club 7 with their B-Side to 'Two In A Million'. I found it rather bizarre at the time Now went with putting on the B Side here instead of the more well known A Side 'Two In A Million', which was the track getting the airplay. Only making Number 25 with quite a few 10's, but if you look the average scores are higher than they normally would be for a 25 position on these rates.

 

Next up we have the Honeyz with 'Won't Take It Lying Down' and a lady who I thought would do a lot better on these Now Rates is Geri Halliwell. 'Bag It Up' became her third Number 1 hit single in Feb 2000. Another month, another Steps release and 'Say You'll Be Mine' was a double A Side with 'Better The Devil You Know'. Finishing up just outside of the Top 20 is R&B sensatuion Craig David with the first of two appearances on Now 45. 'Fill Me In' was a Number 1 hit for him back in April 2000.

Starting off the Top 20 for us is the legend that is Moby with 'Natural Blues'. Reaching Number 11 in the UK charts it was taken from one of the biggest selling albums of the year 2000 'Play'.

 

In 2000 Aqua returned to the charts with another quirky novelty track 'Cartoon Heroes'. The first of two Artful Dodger tracks is at 18, featuring Craig David, 'Rewind' reached Number 2 in December 1999 and became a massive garage smash kickstarting the careers of both Craig David and Artful Dodger.

 

Another single release, and another Number 2 hit for poor Sash! in Feb 2000. Sadly it's his last Number 2 hit to date. Held off the top spot by Gabrielle's Rise, 'Adelante' was taken from his album 'Trilenium'. I do hope one day he can make another return to the charts.

 

Just missing out on a Top 15 place is ATB with his version of Adamski and Seal's Number 1 hit 'Killer'. It made Number 4 in the UK Top 40. Anyone else got it on CD single? It has a very scary shark on the cover.

So we lose a track I thought would win this rate. Shania's 'Man! I Feel Like A Woman' only ends up making Number 15 on this Now rate. This is proving to be a tough battle to the top.

 

At 14 it's one of them collaborations you never thought would happen. Chicane teaming up with Bryan Adams for a massive Number 1 single 'Don't Give Up'. Lene Marlin is sitting at 13 with her breakthrough hit 'Sitting Down Here'. Whatever happened to her?

 

At 12 it's Basement Jaxx at their very best with 'Bing Bango'. I do still listen to this on a regular basis today, so am so happy it's done well here and at 11, just missing out on a Top 10 position is Pop Punk Rockers Blink 182 with their classic 'All The Small Things'. Peaking at Number 2 in the UK Top 40, this is their highest charting song to date.

Well here's a massive surprise kickstarting the Top 10. If you asked me where this would land when I put the rate up, I would of said between 40 and 30. 'Heart Of Asia' was inspired by Ryuichi Sakamoto's soundtrack 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence'.
