Thinking out loud is number 3 COMBINED. 1 performance on the X factor this week (I know he isn't there...) would have give him the number 1 next week for this.

Jeremih  3

Ed Sheeran  4

One Direction  5

I actually think TOL stands a massive chance of nabbing the #1 officially now!

Edited by Rob!

I hope to god he doesnt get it, Ed is one of the most obnoxious popstars out there. Cannot stand him or his middle of the road catered for radio music.
Surely there's no way it'll hit #1 considering the sales it has already amassed, but will definitely have all All Of Me top ten style run, as much as I hate to say it.
I can see it getting to no 1 quite easily, given that it hasn't even been playlisted by Radio 1 yet.
Yeah, I can't see it going to number 1, especially with the amount of people who have the album. Long running top 5 at the moment?

But the radio airplay might come too late after this initial burst up the chart so it may be a long running top 10 hit rather than a No1 - you never know though!

I've thought this for a while personally. It's the sort of song that would get a big boost from any use on TV (especially X Factor, which I'd say is fairly likely at some point), it does amazing in streaming, and sold really well for ages just off Heart FM airplay. Not to mention it'll probably get remixes soon.

I know it's spent ages in the chart already, but the same could be said of songs like Paradise by Coldplay or Telephone by Lady Gaga (which was top 100 for 4 months before it got #1 iirc). And yes, it's sold a lot already, but I think What's My Name? by Rihanna must've sold about 400,000 before it got to #1, so it's not impossible.

I actually heard the song itself for the first time properly I think a couple of days ago, and I don't like it that much. Sounds more like a Bruno Mars song.

That's what happened with Dark Horse, bursted into the top 5 on iTunes, but by the time R1 was fully going it had started to drop. But was a long running hit either way.

Pogues/Kirsty made their first appearance this morning, at #1446. :cheer:

Yes but What's My Name hit number 1 in only its 8th week, TOL has been charting for 16 weeks already...

Don't forget there's the inevitable X-Factor performance which could do wonders for it.

But yeah, it's definitely a big top 3 hit at the very least. #1 isn't impossible though.

One Direction will be releasing 5 instant grats over the next few weeks. :)

Not that it matters as they'll all be ineligible :D Now let's just hope iTunes don't lump all the pre-order sales onto random album tracks upon release like last time causing 2 songs to chart with very little actual sales. Now that was annoying.

The prospect of Thinking Out Loud being a #1 though :drama: :drama: :drama:

The first one will/should be eligible, they have no UK instant grats at the moment.
Astonished at 'Thinking Out Loud' being in the top 3 already, I doubt it'll manage #1 unless it does have an XF performance in a convenient week but it is going to have mega sales in the long run (maybe another million seller for him?)

oops.

anyway lack of streaming should put its chart position down, with any luck it'll miss the top 40!
