November 9, 201411 yr 10 10 14 Sam Smith I'm Not The Only One In The Lonely Hour | 2014 http://a3.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music5/v4/3e/34/5e/3e345ec0-d75f-5cc8-c10f-211e071c56bf/14UMGIM31259.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 69-40-17-9-5-3-6-6-9-12-12-10-10-10 Release date: 31-08-2014 Format: digital single Label: Capitol Records Chart sales: 300k+ Video here: nCkpzqqog4k download track listing 1 I'm Not the Only One (Radio Edit) 2 I'm Not the Only One (Armand Van Helden Remix) 3 I'm Not the Only One (Grant Nelson Remix) 4 I'm Not the Only One (Armand Van Helden's DAT SHIZNIT IZ SLAMMIN' Remix) Biography Although the first solo single from soul-inspired, London-born artist Sam Smith was issued in early 2013, it was his soaring vocal contribution to Disclosure's October 2012 U.K. garage track "Latch" which brought him to most people's attention. For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): 2012 11 Latch (Disclosure Feat. November 9, 201411 yr What is it with INTOO and the #10 position? And with him performing on X Factor it could happen again next week :drama: unless he actually performs 'I'm Not the Only One', in which case it'll be higher :drama: (HOPEFULLY it'll be 'Like I Can', so we can at least have a fresh Sam Smith track in the top 10~)
November 9, 201411 yr Sam Smith missed a HUGE opportunity not having 'Leave Your Lover' as a single in time for X Factor. A performance of it tonight would have been incredible and the song deserves to be massive. :(
November 9, 201411 yr 09 07 04 One Direction Steal My Girl FOUR | 2014 http://a4.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music1/v4/1d/f0/55/1df0558e-82d5-b86f-618c-c2a63ebf3671/886444845892.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 3-11-7-9 Release date: 12-10-2014 / 13-10-2014 Format: digital single / CDS Label: Syco Music Chart sales: 100k+ Video here: UpsKGvPjAgw Biography Following the success of JLS and the Wanted, X Factor contestants One Direction were the next group of heartthrobs to help revive the boy-band concept. The quintet outdid all of their predecessors, becoming the biggest boy band since Take That, selling millions of albums and singles, filling arenas and making movies, while hitting number one many times over across the world with undeniably hooky songs and plenty of boy next door charm. The group was formed by Niall Horan from Mullingar, Ireland; Zayn Malik from Bradford; Harry Styles from Cheshire; Louis Tomlinson from Doncaster, and Liam Payne from Wolverhampton (the latter had previously reached the judge's house stages of The X Factor as a 14-year-old back in 2008). Each originally entered 2010's seventh series of X Factor as individuals, but following a suggestion from guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they were grouped together to become One Direction. Mentored by Simon Cowell, they soon became one of the favorites to win the show, thanks to renditions of Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart." However, despite receiving a standing ovation for their duet with Robbie Williams ("She's the One") in the live final, they eventually finished third behind Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle. Spotting the potential of five Justin Bieber-esque teen pinups, Cowell signed them to his Syco label in a two-million dollar deal, and after performing on the X Factor tour, the quintet began work on their debut album with Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias). Following a sponsorship deal with Nintendo DS and a book, Forever Young, named after their cover of the Alphaville classic that was intended to be their winner's song, they released their first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," in late 2011. The full-length album Up All Night followed soon after. In 2012, One Direction became the first British band to debut on top of the Billboard 200 list when Up All Night sold over 176,000 copies during its first week of release in America. In late 2012, One Direction released their sophomore album, Take Me Home. Highlighting more of the band's melodic pop, Take Me Home featured songs and production via Sweden's Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, and Savan Kotecha, who worked on Up All Night, as well as contributions from singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. The album proved to be another smash and topped charts around the world, earning multi-platinum certification in half a dozen countries. The singles "Live While We're Young" and "Little Things" also hit number one across the globe, and "Kiss You" reached the Top Ten in the U.S. One Direction then embarked on a globe-spanning tour in which the band played over 100 shows, including six sold-out nights at London's massive O2 Arena. At the same time, they were being filmed by director Morgan Spurlock for This Is Us, a mix of documentary and concert footage that proved to be successful at the box office when it was released in August of 2013. While they were touring, One Direction also began work on their third album, Midnight Memories. Released just in time for the 2013 holidays, the record featured songwriting input from all the members, a new production team, and some new folk and '80s hair metal influences. It nearly outdid Take Me Home and Up All Night, peaking at number one in seven countries and spawning the singles "Best Song Ever" and "Story of My Life." - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): 2011 01 What Makes You Beautiful -1- 2011 03 Gotta Be You -2- 2011 01 Wishing On A Star (The X Factor Finalists 2011 Feat.
