November 11, 201411 yr Why would Cheryl Cole be top 5? ;) She's had two number one singles and all of her previous albums have made the top 5.

November 11, 201411 yr Additional info: Cheryl's album has sold 11.3k so far. Taylor Swift is a position behind her, on sales of 6.6k. I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor overtook Cheryl by the end of the week. Amazing album sales at the top, I knew Pink Floyd were going to do well, but on 75k already! Looking at 120k+ by the end of the week? Also very pleasantly surprised to see how well the Veronica's are doing, especially considering it doesn't look like the pre-orders are included in this set of midweeks. Should be comfortably top 10 by the end of the week!
November 11, 201411 yr I cant help but love that chart position for Cheryl. I mean it is still 50 places too high but it does go to show people aren't that stupid and might buy a throw away song by her but would never invest in an album by her. If it was #106 I'd see your point, but it's #6. Thousands of people have bought the album so far! I assume this will sell over 30k by the end of the week. 'Only Human' may not reach the heights that her debut album reached, but 5 years on and 4 albums in and she's still doing very well!
November 11, 201411 yr sammy01 will make anything Cheryl does sound like a flop somehow. She's doing fine, it's just a super competitive week. I'd say Only Human is by FAR her best album, very cohesive and loads of excellent tracks, minimal filler. A Million Lights is almost all great for me too, the other two are a bit mixed but aren't awful imo. When did I say she was a flop? All her album sales and chart position show me is people don't see her as an actual worthwhile artist, when you look at her promo, airplay etc and then look at the top 2 albums and their sales and their promotion you can easily see the difference, people value them as musicians and are willing to invest in them.
November 11, 201411 yr Great to see The Veronicas matching their peak of Untouched already. Fingers crossed with the boost on iTunes this morning that it can hold up and out peak that which is a big possibility. Edited November 11, 201411 yr by Rob S

If she released this last week and sold the exact same amount, she'd be #3 in the Tuesday midweeks. It's literally because she's put this out in a super busy week. It's not ANYTHING to do with people not seeing her as a worthwhile artist, I don't know why you're suggesting that
November 11, 201411 yr I expected Cheryl to be around #6 on the first set of mids. Great sales for Pink Floyd and the Foos. On the singles I never expected Gareth to be there to be honest, the TV boost from last night must have helped.
November 11, 201411 yr Amazing sales for Pink Floyd and Foo Fighters! Both well exceeding my (admittedly uneducated) expectations. I thought Cheryl would be on course for a bit more than ~25k with her X Factor presence, performance and the media exposure of her chart record. Still decent for her to be doing those numbers four albums into her career I guess (and with 'I Don't Care' as the lead single, which doesn't strike me as an album seller at all!).
November 11, 201411 yr Author [#PedantAlert]I think you mean the latter :P[/#PedantAlert] Just checking to see if people actually read the commentary. ;) Any updates for U2 and simple minds?thanks No U2 in the Top 40; Simple Minds is #33 Could I please have the positions of All Of Me and Wicked Games? 'All of Me' is #13; 'Wicked Games' is one position behind Since 1989 is at #7, is Motion at #8? Correct. :D
November 11, 201411 yr No way Ed Sheeran is going to beat Gareth to #1 this week if 'Wake Me Up' has that big a lead already (I'm not surprised after how quickly it shot to #1 on iTunes last night). Strong sales for both #1s this week, Pink Floyd presumably looking at the third biggest sales week of the year after Ed and Coldplay. Poor Foo Fighters have timed this release awfully, would have been #1 with ease in nearly any other week! It obviously won't last but *.*! at Kendrick Lamar having a top 10 hit for at least one midweek update.
November 11, 201411 yr Regardless of Cheryl releasing in a busy week those aren't great album sales for her... Though given her extreme overexposure she'd be pushing for 80k by the end of the week. But I guess tbf her songs are mostly throwaway pop which doesn't lend itself well to album sales. Can't help but be pleased that real music like the Foos and Pink Floyd are ahead of her.
November 11, 201411 yr Author I see Amazon lied when they said Pink Floyd had pre-sales of over 100k! :P Fantastic sales nonetheless - slightly better than Ed Sheeran's first update sales of 75.3k.
November 11, 201411 yr Cheryl's total sales will show whether there's any real interest in her beyond a singles artist. I predicted she'd only sell around 30k first week which looks to be the case. Makes you wonder how much lower her sales would have been without X Factor. Is that right she's released 4 versions of her album? :o
November 11, 201411 yr Is that right she's released 4 versions of her album? :o Physicals: Standard CD, Deluxe CD, Box Set (online store only) Downloads: Standard Clean, Standard Explicit, Deluxe Clean, Deluxe Explicit
