It's not unlikely - it is impossible. None of the '1989' is available to stream anywhere.

She really is shooting herself in the foot with this stance on streaming. http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/grin.gif

She sure is! Though she may not care that streaming is included in the charts nowadays and people who love Taylor Swift and streaming will be gutted they can't stream her!

He pulled out cos he apparently "felt uncomfortable with the new lyrics". No idea which lyrics though

He would have been the best fit for the new version considering his roots! Would have loved an addition from him á la Dizzee in Band Aid 20.

I'm surprised Olly isn't ahead of Clean Bandit, I know it' not a fairly generic song but it's slayed the radio playlists.

It has massive airplay but he's on album 4 or something now so the fans are getting bored!

No, I got the same impression. Now that he's left the Xtra Factor to focus on the solo career, it seems his profile has dipped even more; which is a shame because he's actually very likeable and the music is all pretty catchy/non-offensive stuff. Hoping he can produce another couple of hits and sell well with this album though, but to still be going on album #4 is an achievement!
So Band Aid 30 was TOTD ON radio 1 today and I heard it a few times on capital but hope it doesn't fall too much in the next few days before it's properly on radio playlists for December? I also hope it doesn't overhshadow Leona doing well with OMS again :)
There is a bit less hype for Olly this era but he's not exactly doing badly. Very few acts that come from talent shows even make it to a fourth album let alone still get top 3 hits from them (Olly, 1D, Girls Aloud, Leona... that's about it). I still think he'll end up having the longest chart life of any XF act, he just makes good pop music which will never go out of fashion, and even if his career does collapse a bit he could easily revive it with the right song (a la Will Young).

People should remember that Band Aid had no Sunday sales, which affects the maths: If you want to assume Clean Bandit sell 80k and Band Aid sells 10x that on iTunes throughout the week, that's 800k for the week. But when you divide that 800k by 7 you get a breakdown of ~114k per day and that means its actual sales would be ~686k.

Of course this maths is massively unreliable for a variety of reasons. The current lead over CB is more like 12x but that's not going to stay solid as the week goes on. It could be selling 5x or more extremely only 2x by the end of the week. This always happens with massive starters. Also, the lack of Sunday sales arguably amounts to 0 lost sales because it just results in purchases being shifted from Sunday to Monday (this is why I never complain about albums being released on Monday).

All that said, my guess for the week would be 460k.

I really haven't sensed as much hype around Olly this time as there was before, I don't know if it's just me there?

I kind of feel that too, though arguably he's still possibly biggest XF act right now (1D maybe joint or a little ahead but they aren't as huge here as they are WW). I'm sure his album will sell amazingly (double platinum even) but not as well as his first three.

Yeah, he's still doing amazingly well considering his roots. It struck me while watching his X Factor performance yesterday that he really hasn't changed his brand or 'style' at all since being a contestant. He found his formula very early on and stuck with it and it's great to see that it's still bringing him so much success.

However, I do think the lack of hype relative to his other eras can be put down to the uninspired single. It sounds like a decent-ish album track to me and doesn't make any sort of statement so I'm not surprised it's not doing as well as his other lead singles.

Looks like Olly has to settle for #3. I'm a bit gutted but I knew it would be as an easy #1 as Troublemaker. In fact, out of the 4 songs available from his album right now, I'd say Wrapped Up is the weakest one yet. Never Been Better sounds much stronger on first listen.

I think that sounds about right, I was going to guess 450K but as you say it really depends on whether it continues to hold such a strong lead through the rest of the week.

BTW, 686K would be enough to put it at #101 in the 'best sellers of the 2010s' list,.

Olly was bound to have a slump at some point (if you could really call this that). With his last three albums it got bigger and bigger and I think he has just reached his plateau and is settling out. A top 5 hit is still a great achievement from a fourth album. Just got to see if it holds up in terms of sales. I think Olly is secure enough with his fan base now that not getting a number one is not a massive concern for his label, as I am sure his album will still sell well.

Not really a fan of the new Band Aid version but at least it is for a good cause. I am just donating to the actual site than buying the track as I feel it is just a bit underwhelming and I would never intentionally choose to listen to it.

I wonder if Band Aid 30 could be the fastest selling song of the decade. Though maybe not without physicals.

lol I doubt that, I expect his album to sell really well. Let's not get carried away, number 3 (very close to number 2) is pretty good in a Band Aid week for a generic song.

What do people mean when they say that? His airplay has been strong, he's done all the usual shows he does, plus he's got an ITV special coming up.

I think the two year gap between albums was a poor move. The album every year cycle he had going was working well.

Yeah we haven't heard what he has on his new album yet, there's supposed to be quite a few potential hits on it. Wrapped Up wasn't even gonna be the lead single, the 2nd single was, so that bodes well. Plus there's his Demi Lovato song which will IMO be the 3rd single.

He'd burn himself out if he did it, plus people would get sick of him.
