I wonder if Alice Levine will come back in a few hours for her (sort of) #1 :magic: When was the last time (if ever) that a Radio 1 DJ had a #1 hit actually?

Jimmy Young had two number ones in 1955. Twelve years later he was one of the original Radio 1 DJs.

Bruno Brookes & Liz Kershaw had two top 50 hits in 1989/1990 ;)

Dave Lee Travis made the charts too in 1976.

I hope Ugly Heart is still in!

Phil Taggart was joking with her on Twitter that he was devestated that she got a #1 single before him, despite him being in bands for years back home (he used to play bass in a band called Colenso Parade, whom I endured live on several occasions).

#8. Hope that's enough to go top 10 officially.

Waves is such a feel-good, summery track.

Deserved all the success and longevity that it's had. ^_^

Song information

"God Only Knows" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Tony Asher for American rock band the Beach Boys, released in 1966 as the eighth track on the group's album Pet Sounds.

A version of the song was simulcast across BBC television and radio channels on October 7, 2014 to launch BBC Music. It featured Brian Wilson himself and other major artists from different musical genres (creating a supergroup called The Impossible Orchestra). The music video, directed by François Rousselet, features the artists in lavish, fantastical computer generated settings. The track was released the following day as a charity single for Children in Need 2014.[ - Wikipedia

2004 30 Good Vibrations -2-

2005 66 What I Really Want For Christmas -1-

2014 20 God Only Knows (Brian Wilson & Various Artists) -NAS-

Pleased to see 'God Only Knows' picking up another week in the top 40! If only it could trade places with 'Wake Me Up'.

Ah so Brian Wilson did make it! Maybe One Direction got fewer NE's than I thought.

Anyway glad this is back, have really warmed to this. Infinitely better than the Wake Me Up cover at least.

Bruno Brookes & Liz Kershaw had two top 50 hits in 1989/1990 ;)

Dave Lee Travis and Paul Burnett had a hit (as Laurie Lingo and the Dipsticks) in 1976.

I would preferred this to be the official Children In Need single and this week's No.1.

Discussion Thread Here

And of course a few weeks ago a former Radio 1 DJ nearly made the top 40 with some party political propaganda, plus wrote two other top 40 hits in the 00s (Grief Never Grows Old, plus one for the Jungle Boys).
