Jessie J really bombed worldwide with 'Burnin Up', she's somehow managed to mess up this era despite 'Bang Bang' being massive.

It's probably because like last time, the album has flopped and it's harder to get a post-album hit when that happens as it shows a lack of interest.

I still think the only reason 'Bang Bang' did well was that Ariana was on it. (Nicki as well to some extent but Ariana is the big name of the three right now, the song came along just as 'Problem' was smashing worldwide). Not at all surprising that Jessie is failing to continue the success without a big name to support her again.

But 2 Chainz though?

2 Chainz is no Ariana or Nicki, but he's still a pretty big name I'd say? He's been on some big hits.

I suppose but I'm not sure how many people would think "ooh, 2 Chainz is featured on that song, I must check it out", especially if it's kind of obvious it'll just be a rap that isn't really needed.

"Burnin Up" isn't that good a song imo. Sounds like an album track rather than a single, I think that's why it bombed so badly. Not to mention how messy the era has been handled. If she released a radio-friendly song after "Bang Bang" I'm sure it would've done well.

This is exactly what I meant, of course 2 Chainz has a fair few hit features and people know who he is but as an artist he is not a big name at all, at least not in the UK where he only has one hit in his own right (there is maybe more of a case for him being a big name in the US but even there I don't think a 2 Chainz feature exactly commands attention).

Ben's already sold like 40k more than her up until weds mids though, not really comparable.

I wasn't trying to imply that Ben was doing worse than Sam (since I don't think Happy started doing big numbers until the gift card effect set in), I was just stating a fact.

Ben free falling now. Down to 75% of Uptown Funk.

The reason why everything has gone so badly for Jessie again is because everything was focused on 'Bang Bang' to be a success and now that has passed, the label either don't know what to do or don't care and have thrown out videos for two other songs whole sending another to radio over here.

Yeah I know, I misread what you were saying. He is falling but with UF selling big numbers and his physicals I think he could have some pretty good numbers and hopefully the song sticks around for a while if not at the top but Top 5 or so.

Re: Jessie J, I agree that the era is being handled pretty crazy, but the likes of Beyonce's most recent album was handled almost as chaotically and that's still managed to produce a few minor hits after one big one.

"Masterpiece" is in the T10 on US iTunes right now, so it looks as if that could do well for her over there, they just need to sort out what's happening in the UK. It's a pretty solid album from her actually, plenty of material deserving to chart in any case (definitely not "Burnin' Up").

Jessie J's flopping after Bang Bang because she's trying to release three singles at the same time, and hoping one takes off. Such a messy and bizarre strategy. "Masterpiece" seems to be quite popular, so she should try and push that worldwide. Why they're trying to make "Sweet Talker" happen, I don't know.
Jessie J's flopping because she is increasingly irrelevant in the eyes of the general public. Her last proper solo Top 10 hits spent 9, 4, 4 and 2 weeks in the Top 10 respectively.
Really impressed at Philip George going Top 40 on pre-orders!

I hope this goes top 5 next week, can't believe its doing this well on pre orders already!
