December 14, 201411 yr Well Tinchy & Chip have both had #1's and appeared in top 10's as recently as last year so if anything Wretch still has some catching up to do! Wretch has also had a #1, and appeared in the top 10 as recently as this year.
December 14, 201411 yr Sam should really be performing this tonight (if he must insist on performing a past track) over the diabolical Stay With Me, which I assume is back above it again.
December 14, 201411 yr Its so weird seeing two X factor acts to get #2 on their debut album and number #1 on the rest of the albums
December 14, 201411 yr Sam should really be performing this tonight (if he must insist on performing a past track) over the diabolical Stay With Me, which I assume is back above it again. They're more or less the same song, so it doesn't really matter which he does.
December 14, 201411 yr Its so weird seeing two X factor acts to get #2 on their debut album and number #1 on the rest of the albums I'm not sure what beat Olly's debut but I know Up All Night was released against Rihanna's Talk That Talk, so it lost out to another huge album! (which it has now outsold lol)
December 14, 201411 yr This song is much better than "Stay With Me" (even though both aren't my favourites) so I don't get why the latter is still higher :(
December 14, 201411 yr 25 28 30 Sam Smith Stay With Me In The Lonely Hour | 2014 http://a4.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music4/v4/a2/a2/da/a2a2da6d-21c0-7240-f176-52abf7cd404e/14UMGIM09454.170x170-75.jpg Chart Run: 1-2-2-4-5-6-7-10-10-13-16-13-13-16-15-16-15-12-16-23-27-23-15-17-18-16-21-29-28-25 Release date: 18-05-2014 Format: digital single Label: Capitol Records Chart sales: 900k+ Video here: pB-5XG-DbAA Biography Although the first solo single from soul-inspired, London-born artist Sam Smith was issued in early 2013, it was his soaring vocal contribution to Disclosure's October 2012 U.K. garage track "Latch" which brought him to most people's attention. For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): 2012 11 Latch (Disclosure Feat. December 14, 201411 yr Wretch has also had a #1, and appeared in the top 10 as recently as this year. True (not sure how I forgot Don't Go) but the span of Tinchy & Chipmunk are both 4-5 years I think? Guess if Wretch gets another one next year he'll be ahead on that front.
December 14, 201411 yr I'm not sure what beat Olly's debut but I know Up All Night was released against Rihanna's Talk That Talk, so it lost out to another huge album! (which it has now outsold lol) Take That blocked him I believe!
December 14, 201411 yr I'm not sure what beat Olly's debut but I know Up All Night was released against Rihanna's Talk That Talk, so it lost out to another huge album! (which it has now outsold lol) Olly's debut album was blocked by Take That's Progress. There was nothing that was going to get past that.
December 14, 201411 yr Well Tinchy & Chip have both had #1's and appeared in top 10's as recently as last year so if anything Wretch still has some catching up to do! Well both of those top 10's only scraped it and they weren't lead artists on those songs so I don't count them, as it doesn't really signify that they are the selling force behind the two songs. :P Not that there is anything wrong with their careers. British rappers just don't ever seem to manage long lasting (commercially successful) careers with the exception of Dizzee Rascall, Wiley and perhaps Professor Green.
