Posted December 15, 201410 yr So the winner of X Factor for 2014 is Ben Haenow and this is his debut single which will inevitably go to #1 for Christmas :magic: p_6bEaaRVzA Hmm not sure what I make of the studio version atm :( Edited December 18, 201410 yr by HonkBonkXMAS
December 15, 201410 yr I didn't even mind his live performance of it, but this studio version is pretty bad :/ I know I've been critical of his voice in the past, but why have they basically auto tuned out all of the grit in his voice? That's pretty much the only thing he had edging it for him to be a bit different to past winners. It just sounds really weird.
December 15, 201410 yr Unfortunately, this looks likely to be Christmas number one as Xfactor continue to milk the Christmas chart with releasing yet another dreary cover version.
December 15, 201410 yr I've not watched X Factor this year (bar YouTube clips of Stevi Ritchie who was hilarious) so am only just learning this guy's name is 'Haenow'. Am thus a bit like Miranda in that episode where she learns she's working in an office with a Sue Perb.

So much auto tune/corrector :/ It sounded better live.
December 15, 201410 yr I really like the studio recording. He really does have a good recording voice. Certainly up there with the better winners singles.
December 15, 201410 yr Author yeah just listening to the studio version again now and I like it but to be fair for me either would sound great going by last night!
December 16, 201410 yr Author Is this a cover or an original song? a cover. It's a OneRepublic song originally.
December 17, 201410 yr I really like this, Ben was a great choice for the winner and he did sing this better than Fluer, and plus he does sound a bit like Ryan Tedder on this track, or is it just me
December 17, 201410 yr The song definitely suits Ben better but I really don't like the amount of auto-tune/pitch corrector they've used, his voice sounds perfectly fine without it. A better single than a lot of the ex-winners though.

December 17, 201410 yr I really do like Ben's version, it is like the song was made for him. I had wanted Ben to win over Fleur.
December 17, 201410 yr I'm really loving this, been a while since I've properly loved an X Factor winners single although I guess it helps that I'd never heard the original. Good to hear a winners single that isn't a ballad for once aswell. Might not be a huge fan of Ben (although I did vote for him in the final 2) but this is a great song. Good job really because my mum bought the single earlier and has already played it about 4 times since we came back with it.
December 18, 201410 yr I heard the studio version today for the first time on the chart update. So I just listened to 1R's version and Ben's version is better and the lyrics are more cheerier.
December 18, 201410 yr As I mentioned already I'd not watched this year's series but I watched back Ben's performances and stuff on YouTube yesterday. Worthy winner if you ask me, vocally he reminds me of Paolo Nutini crossed with John Newman, seems like a nice chap too. I hope therefore that they'll get it right with him and he'll do big things.
December 18, 201410 yr I prefer this to 1R's version but tbh I don't really like 1R Anyway. Still a bit peeved that Ben won it anyway.
December 19, 201410 yr I enjoy One Republic but i too prefer Ben's version, like others have said, its like this song was wrote for him. I am looking forward to seeing what style Ben will have when he does release further material.
