Can't be bothered to watch this year, it's always underwhelming and this line up doesn't excite me. I might check out the Clean Bandit, Mr Probz, Sigma and Gorgon City performances later though

I've recorded it just so I can fast forward the rubbish...it all sounds very underwhelming this year, that and I really would like Fearne's and Reggie to go away...

It was 50/50 TOTP for me. My highlights were Tom Odell, The Vamps, Ella, Clean Bandit and Ed Sheeran. The rest were ok to rubbish especially Take That who were awful.

TOTP Xmas specials are always so lame now :(

Severe lack of female artists too, strange.

Yeah only Ella & Jess were the two females this year. Surprised in some way despite getting snubbed by R1 with OLCHLT that Paloma didn't perform. She could've done Changing with Sigma or something in a mashup but oh well.

How have I only just found out that Daniel Pearce from One True Voice sings on Sigma's Nobody To Love?

I didn't know that either, and I'm fairly sure I tried to look it up back when the song came out so I wouldn't say it's particularly common knowledge!

Much like Kelli-Leigh then he's racked up 2 #1s with barely anyone noticing (as he also had guest vocals on Dizzee Rascal's 'Dirtee Disco') :o Cheryl better hold onto that weave.

Mr Probz was actually very good, that additional string section on the original version of Waves was pretty stunning.

I'm not convinced this song would have been much of a hit at all in its original form though (or indeed got any radio support).

Kelli-Leigh *.*

If only Love Too Deep was a #1 hit, then she'd have 3 :( still a massive injustice that never went top 40

Barely anyone noticed Ms D getting 2 #1s either as she was credited under her real name on Oopsy Daisy (and uncredited in many places)

Actually quite enjoyed it becasue it was mostly live, with just a bit of FF for the Vamps, Tom Odell, Ben Haenow.

Highlights Mr Probz, Ella and ahem Ed Sheeran although I have seen it 100 times already.

Haha I just posted about this in the X Factor thread not realising it was here! But yes I was shocked to realise that too, I wondered if Daniel was just there for the live performance but researching further he is indeed the vocalist on the studio version too!

Never realised the Daniel Pearce bit either! Checking Kelli-Leigh on Wikipedia - am I the only person who thought that Jax Jones was the singer on I Got U? And I've no idea if this is true or not, but I Wanna Feel's Wikipedia page claims that Daniel Bedingfield sings on the track...

I actually didn't mind TOTPs this yr, they are always going to have more local artists due to the nature of the show but Mr Probz original version sounded great and even the Vamps version of Jingle Bells was different and had a lot of energy. Radio 1 always play their version of Jingle Bell Rock!

What?! Mind blown! He was really good (wasn't he on the Voice or something as well)?

Mr Probz was great as well, but I was a bit baffled that they chose 2 songs in their 6 monthly recaps that were then fully performed. So odd.

I miss the old mid 90s style TOTP Christmas special where they did one live performance per month and a quick monthly biggest sellers.

Daniel was on the X Factor which is probably what you are thinking of, he got to Judges Houses.

He was definitely on X Factor at some point iirc. He seems to have shaken off the One True Voice flop tag to become a relatively respected vocalist in dance/urban circles and I agree, he was very good on TOTP.

I agree, the 90s shows were brilliant! The 1999 one sticks out in my mind quite vividly for some reason, I remember Eiffel 65 and Cliff Richard performing and it flashed up their position in the YTD chart at the beginning of the performance.

Oh yes! They did the YTD positions from 1997 for a few years and now they just play random songs. They also used to reveal the xmas top 10.

Just watching the TOTPs 1979 show and they actually start with the previous Xmas No1 as it started the year at the top, much better way if doing things.

I didn't follow YTD charts religiously back then (just listened to them when they'd play the 'chart of the year so far' on Radio 1 every 4 months or so) so I always remember being shocked at how high certain songs were on Xmas TOTP. For example, I hadn't realised that Blue (Da Ba Dee) was the 2nd biggest seller of the year until I saw it flash up on TOTP in

performance.

Yes there are female and male vocals on I Wanna Feel so Kelli-Leigh & Daniel both feature (uncredited).
