Yes, indeed! I've heard so much about Buzzjack that I had to get on here and check it out for myself. :D

  • 1 year later...

Hi there,

I was looking for a forum with music competitions and ChatGPT suggested yours to me, today. I had a quick look around and noticed that one of your members mentioned that no one had joined since September last year, which I took as a sign to create an account and join in.

I’ve got some experience with forum competitions, mostly on Eurovision forums, but I’m looking for something a bit different and more general right now. I’m not a huge Eurovision fan—I just enjoyed sharing songs there.

I also noticed that you have a Eurovision subforum, which is definitely cool, but it’s not really my focus.

Just so you know, I’m interested in joining for now.

hi

We do require people to have had an account for 3 months before entering here but would be happy to have you in January if you still remember we exist then x

(although we do have a few other song contests around the site which don't have such a restriction, if retro non English language songs are your bag there's one here that you can send a song to right now if you want!)

I’ve read the rules in the meantime, so that’s not a problem.

Retro non-English songs sound cool to me. I might give it a try. 😇

ooooooo not sure if you recognise me 👀

I’ve mostly been active on the national Eurovision forum, so if there’s no one here from my country, there’s a pretty good chance I don’t know you. 😅

oh fair then probably a different eurovision fan contest circle than i am kink

I’ve submitted a song for this spin-off competition because and I really enjoy themed contests. 😄 Are the topics open-ended in the regular BJSC?

The regular BJSC is open to everything yes! (Although the focus of it is on music discoveries so within reason needs to be at least somewhat unknown songs, the pinned veto framework thread spells out in slightly excessive detail the kind of things that might get a song disallowed. Also needs to be a song that hasn't been sent before, for which there's also a pinned thread with a list).

The various other song contests around the site all have a more specific focus (either genre or time period - the Pop and Dance forums each have their own contest as do the two 'rewind' forums, while the Indie forum has 2 of its own contests which alternate editions with one being specific to guitar-led music and the other being a more open ended 'alternative' contest) with most of them also having a different theme each edition, e.g. the one I linked you to is the 11th edition of 'The Best Song Contest In The World... Ever!' which is the pre-2000 focused contest with this edition's theme being foreign languages.

I am thrilled with this forum, no kidding!! It’s truly a treasure trove of music. From what I’ve seen so far, your contests and rules are very thoughtfully organized, and each one seems to have its own purpose, while everything aims for fairness and balance among the songs, which I really like.

Welcome to the forum, that was myself that mentioned we hadn't had any new joiners for a while so cool that comment had the desired effect! Look forward to co-participating in many site-wide contests.

Edit: actually it was jimwatts apols, I just said this might be the first year without any newbies :P
