Posted March 10, 201510 yr From Sky News: The Top Gear presenter was allegedly involved in a fracas with a producer and his motoring show will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC has suspended Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson "following a fracas" with a producer. An investigation will now take place into the alleged incident and no-one else has been suspended, the corporation said. It also said Top Gear would not be broadcast this Sunday. "The BBC will be making no further comment at this time", it added. Clarkson was put on what was called his final warning last year. That followed a racism row after claims he used the n-word while reciting the nursery rhyme Eeny, Meeny, Miny Moe during filming of the BBC2 programme. He previously faced a storm of protest from mental health charities after he branded people who throw themselves under trains as "selfish". And he was forced to apologise for telling BBC1's The One Show that striking workers should be shot. A BBC spokeswoman said in a statement today: "Following a fracas with a BBC producer, Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. "No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time." Is this the end of Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson on the BBC? :o I hope not as I do still enjoy Top Gear and commercially it's still one of the BBC's best selling exports.
March 10, 201510 yr Nooooo! I love Top Gear. Can't imagine it without Cap'n Slow, the Hamster and Jezza. :( If they want new presenters, and hold auditions like last time, I would so go for it. (Couldn't actually drive last time)
March 10, 201510 yr Problem the Beeb has is that Top Gear is it's most profitable and biggest export by far.
March 10, 201510 yr Clarkson has no regard for the well being of other people, the planet or anything that doesn't stroke his own supermassive ego. His talent? talking about cars a bit. He is eminently replaceable. Time he got his comeuppance, Jonathan Ross and others have been suspended for less than he continually gets away with.
March 10, 201510 yr Katie Hopkins capitalising as ever: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/jeremy-...b-katie-5307174 Ridiculous as ever.
March 10, 201510 yr Katie Hopkins capitalising as ever: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/jeremy-...b-katie-5307174 Ridiculous as ever. Send them away together. Those two self-publicists deserve each other.
March 11, 201510 yr The rest of this series of Top Gear has been pulled from the schedules now. Apparently he punched the producer - this is unconfirmed by the BBC.
March 11, 201510 yr speaking as a public employee, if I were to hypothetically punch someone, make racist comments, and disrespect the country I was visiting on a government-paid for work-related trip I would have been sacked a long time ago. The last I heard the BBC was publicly funded, and spoilt arrogant rich and powerful people are no more free to ignore the law and conduct. If you got punched by someone in the street, for whatever reason, they would be prosecuted by police and appear in court. The ridiculous man on TV trying to justify it as just lads having a lark needs sending back to 20th century. Times have changed. Violence is not acceptable, at all, anywhere, to anyone. If it's true, of course.
March 11, 201510 yr He would need to have been provoked for violence like that to be in any way excusable.
March 11, 201510 yr Eep. He's always been difficult/arrogant/an asshole, but to pull the show from the schedule does suggest it's something more serious than usual.
March 11, 201510 yr This is fantastic publicity for Top Gear! When they do eventually show the shows - watch the audience leap by perhaps another million. Everything on TV these days is done for a purpose. As for Clarkson - he thrives on people talking about him - he's a bit like Katie Hopkins really - just not (quite) as scary to look at (and obviously a lot richer). My son used to love Top Gear - he's only interested in the cars, old and new, he doesn't really care who presents the show - and he thinks Clarkson is an arsehole! Edited March 11, 201510 yr by Kath
March 12, 201510 yr Re-runs will sill pollute Dave :( that's what i was going to say if dave loses top gear, i honestly think the channel will close either that, or become a channel like BBC3 and only broadcast in the evenings with shows like mock the week and QI (which is terrible) but no. seriously. dave are relying on top gear just as much as challenge are relying on who wants to be a milionair reruns. it's too much
March 12, 201510 yr The petition to reinstate him has got nearly 800,000 signatures! :o I'd be happy with him staying, although I don't really watch 'Top Gear' anymore. The whole situation is strange to me though. Throughout all the past controversies, the media was trying to push that the BBC were wrong to keep him and once they eventually suspend him, the whole internet has a go at the BBC for possibly getting rid! The BBC can honestly never win.
March 12, 201510 yr So, 800,000 people think he should keep his job even if he assaulted a member of the production team. I hope none of them complain if a colleague of theirs thumps them.
