That flop for G.R.L. is horrible :(

Cannot wait til Sheeran and Smith are over with their album era's. It is becoming a CHORE. I suspect Bloodstream will also unfortunately be a #01 too.

New peak for Firestone. Hope it can enter the top 40.
I'm glad Madonna didnt make number one. Its not a very good album at all.

As a fan since she started I think it's a great album which could have been a brilliant one if it had a few tracks less.

Not content with robbing Years & Years of a second week at #1 (I knew Flo Rida wouldn't finish above them anyway), he also robs Madonna of her 12th Number 1 album. I'm actually starting to dislike him just for that.

Also just noticed this, which was bound to happen eventually, what with the multitude of songs he has in the Top 40:

32 Sam Smith ~ Like I Can

33 Sam Smith ~ Stay With Me

34 Sam Smith ~ I'm Not The Only One

He needs to take a leaf out of Emeli Sande's book and disappear out of the public eye for a few months, or else people really are going to start to get sick of him.

I thought the new Idina/Frozen song would have been higher than #94 considering it was low Tip 40 for a while then went Top 20 on iTunes.

Gutted for Madonna - Great album beaten by the bore fest of Sam Smith.

OMG brilliant no.1 album/ single combo!!

The right albums/ songs won in the end - I still haven't even bought his album though! Really should.

Me favourite no.1 single/ album of the year so far actually.

Wow :o Really didn't expect Madonna to miss #1, I've not been keeping track of the mids though...

Those flops for G.R.L. and The Avener...wow, would have pinned them as certain top tens a couple of months ago.

well they DID make the Top 40 in the real charts, at least, along with Muse and some Taylor Swifts.

Sam Smiths tedious trio is also NOT in the actual real charts top 40.

Sorry to all combined chart fans, in my head the sales chart is the real chart, I have no interest at all in the streaming positions. I have them in Music Week, Top 100, published (but not the sales charts, talk about music industry bias) and I've tried reading them, but I usually fall asleep by the time I get down to positions 12 or 13 out of sheer tedium.

No I agree, the sales chart is far more kind to fresh blood and would be exciting to listen to. Streaming was always going to do this unfortuntely :( Shame cause for the first week or two I liked the introduction of streaming.

Interestingly if it wasn't for the Lay Me Down comic relief remix we would have had the 2nd case of the official #1 being different to the sales #1, with Years & Years deservingly taking Flo Rida's #1. Trust Sam Smith to ruin everything -_-
How an earth is Sam Smith back at number one, are there people who have never heard of him until they watch one of these shows and then buy his album or does he have fans who own dozens of copies

Well this track was the Official Comic Relief single...

Edit: Ah I assume you're referring to album? Well, a mix of that added exposure, Mother's Day effect & yeah basically what you said

Ive also been a fan since the beginning but her last three albums havent grabbed me at all and dont compare at all to her other albums which are brilliant. Its clear she has run out of ideas and is just trying to regurgitate the same stuff but its just no where near as good. In fact, some of the tracks on rebel heart are awful.

I remember the buzz about the GRL video two months ago. For some reason the UK record company decided not to release the single until everybody had forgotten it.
True but it hasn't really done anything worldwide either, low peaks in Australia/NZ & didn't even chart in US!

The release date is nothing to do with its flop - it's the fact that radio didn't get on board at all. Its pre-orders were great for a song that had NO radio support. #55 is a decent outcome all things considered. Should've been way higher but oh well.

Oh and Ugly Heart didn't do anything in the US so I wouldn't have expected Lighthouse to!

Good to see Calvin Harris in top40 with pray to god. Great song!!

It is wonderful as i had feared it was going to miss the top 40.

it's got generally good reviews, and is her best since Dancefloor, though admittedly it would have benefitted greatly from being just 12 of the best tracks and dropping the more urban bonus tracks. A side 1 of an old fashioned album:

1. Ghost Town

2. Devil Pray

3. Living For Love

4. Hold Tight

5. Holy Water

6. Joan Of Arc

now that's a classic side 1 of a Madonna album.....

Add Rebel Heart (demo), Wash All Over Me, Addicted and a couple of others and I quite agree.
