I heard "Jealous" for the first time yesterday and really can't see what all the fuss is about - it's a fairly average song, the production has nothing to recommend it and the vocals, while there is probably a reason that most of the time his singing needs to be multi-tracked and have tons of effect applied to it. Definitely would prefer a third week for Jess Glynne.

 

Apologies in advance if this is a really stupid question but if hypothetically this fake version of Cheerleader absolutely skyrocketed in sales to the point it was officially within the top 40 would it be eligible and would the BBC be obliged to play it on the chart show as well? I know it's all hypothetical but I'm curious.

It would be eligible - songs like this have charted top 40 (even top 10) before, though I'm not sure if any have since the streaming rules came in. However, BBC usually choose to skip playing it on the chart show.

I think because the actual version will also be top 40 this week, if the fake version makes it in they'll just mention it and play a few seconds of it before moving on to the next track (this happened when the original and fake version of All About That Bass charted)

Interestingly in some cases they played the original and in some cases they've played the fake or a snippet of the fake version.

Such a shame Radio 1 are getting rid of this so early, it got pushed down loads by the multiple Now-effect last week, but I'm certain a week on the A-list would have seen it safely into the top 100 officially.
