That being said I don't think this is necessarily the best way to view Madonna an artist anyway, yeah it has some career peaks and defining moments, but there's a much, much stronger set of 13 singles out there if you were to even include her #2's (of which she has a lot).

That being said I don't think this is necessarily the best way to view Madonna an artist anyway, yeah it has some career peaks and defining moments, but there's a much, much stronger set of 13 singles out there if you were to even include her #2's (of which she has a lot). I suppose that in the sense of '4 Minutes' being more trend-chasing than trend-setting, I do agree that it's not worthy of being Madonna's last #1. But I am extremely fond of the song and there's no doubt it was pretty big at the time, and I'd suggest that it's one that people my age would still like if it were to play on the TV/radio. I do agree that Madonna is so much more than her #1s but I think that could be argued about any artist that one is a fan of. Plus, finding a definitive answer for Madonna's best songs wasn't particularly the focus of this, more to get some discussion going again, but if people were interested in looking at Madonna's #2s or any other ideas, I'd definitely be happy to hear suggestions and get something started after this.
June 1, 201510 yr Oh no, I was just being mean spirited for no reason. I just find the likes of Music and Intro The Groove totally overrated and 4 Minutes is a fine song, but as a lead single and worldwide #1 it was more do with the Timba's than HER, which saddens me for someone with such an incredible legacy.
