If it's true that Taylor Swift will be on Apple Music however these major decreases in position for her will be no more, I would expect Bad Blood to climb back up in a few weeks.
June 14, 201510 yr Yup, this is the first time anything in the top 3 sales chart has missed the official top 10! The highest prior to this had been #5, with Tough Love, Lawson and Sigma/Labrinth missing out.

And possibly her previous three singles returning to the Top 40 going by how well they're still doing on the sales chart!

A 52 chart position for a lead single is really damaging to an artist like Leona, whereas a 26 peak position would not be great but still has the comfort of being a top 40 hit.

I very much agree with this on air/on streams approach. Even if the download release is held back for 2 months, it at least gives people the chance to enjoy the song from the moment it is popular. I suppose record labels are under the impression that all release forms needs to be secluded to one week for maximum effect, but hopefully that'll change as streaming gets popular and they get more of an understanding of it.
June 15, 201510 yr Leona's image is not very chart friendly at the moment, not surprised she's not doing better. As for Adam Lambert, the collaboration with Queen is more a buzz killer than anything. Why would R1 for example support him after that?

I think the biggest one is this: if you still buy music just out of habit, and then happen to notice that all those songs you can't yet buy are on Spotify, well most people would make the switch wouldn't they? The industry obviously has a vested interest in keeping sales alive as long as possible - Taylor Swift may well have had some of this pressure behind removing her music from Spotify, to make Spotify's catalogue seem incomplete and less appealing to fully switch over to - and I would guess those who buy because it's what they've always done make up the largest portion of buyers (Apple Music may be the kick needed to turn buying into a more niche interest for those who are fully aware of streaming but prefer to maintain a music library). There's also that labels wouldn't want to lose control of making songs popular when they wish, which is probably why impact dates are still a thing, and the possibility that Apple may refuse the best promo/front page slots to songs given to Spotify earlier. With that said it definitely does look silly holding off things that would benefit a lot and I'm sure I've complained about it, but it's been long enough that everyone surely has a sound understanding by now. I mean, all of us do and it's not our job!
