That wasn't good for LVG. He really needed a win today in order to stave off the vultures who have just increased the ferociousness of their circling.

Felt sorry for him, especially when the United fans started signing Mourinho's name. Be careful what you wish for is all I can say. He's like the complete opposite of the Man Utd traditions.

Massive win for Liverpool, I thought we would do it. Played really well and completely snuffed out Leicester City, until they went all Tony Pulis on us!

Now, what's the betting we lose to Sunderland in two days time after that? :D

Would be just our luck, but think we have too much for Sunderland. Guess a lot of it will depend on how tired the players are.

Arsenal losing 2-0 now to Southampton, Man Utd lost to Stoke, Leicester lost. This has been a second Christmas Day for this season's Premier League champions Manchester City.

Arsenal playing really poorly.. think it's a psychological thing like with Liverpool at times.

At this moment in time, I really do think 75 points could win the title. Crazy thought.

No, he needed a win to prove that he deserves to be in this job. Let's not make him into a victim. He's a man who's paid a lot of money, and who's spent a huge amount of money, to get results and now his team are going backwards with no sign of improvement. I don't understand why fans back the manager so heavily in these situations. You won't be playing champion's league next year if nothing changes.

Terrible performance from Arsenal, one of those rare performances where we simply didn't show up. Nobody on the pitch looked even remotely arsed about being there so... onwards and upwards. Still 2nd.

Lukaku equal with Vardy now on goals, with Vardy having played a game less (which I assume he will play tomorrow providing he starts against Man City). Ighalo one goal behind, having played a game less.

Nobody would have predicted those three to be the top 3 goalscorers this season come Christmas in August (especially not the latter two). Unpredictable.

Killer performance from Arsenal tonight, Bournemouth were properly shitting themselves for a good thirty minutes of that. Ozil on fire as per, Bellerin impressive too.

Everything crossed for a City-Leicester draw tomorrow :D

Great to end the calendar year level on points with Utd :D

Think Top 4 will be too much of a stretch for both.

Honestly have no idea who will finish top 4 alongside Man City and Arsenal.

Still think Leicester will end up dropping off and finish 5th/6th, so right now I'd go with Tottenham. Probably Man United too as I think LVG will end up being sacked and they'll pick up some form

Finally a liverpool player in the top goalscorers list. Hooulahan still in the top assists category, he really has been a late bloomer. He was in Irelands squad as long ago as 2003 under Mick McCarthy when he played for Dublin team Shelbourne. Hope he doesnt tire before the Euros!!

Well done West Ham fans, tactics were spot on today.

Had to laugh at the BT commentary though - all teams have injuries  Liverpool's two most influential players must have played no more than 500 minutes in the league combined!! But once again a complete nothing performance today.

According to most commentators, injuries are more significant for the "bigger" sides. In reality, the opposite is true. For a team like Bournemouth, losing a few key players is much more significant than it is for a team like Man City or Arsenal.

Dunno. I'd argue if the bigger teams take a couple of injuries to the spine of the team, then they soon become quite average.

The bigger teams have bigger squads. They would be expected to have better quality players on the bench than the likes of Bournemouth have in their starting line-up.

The reason bigger teams take a bigger hit by injuries is because they tend to have 11 top class players and then a selection of other average players who take the place of injured players in a team.

With smaller clubs you tend to see more of a squad of players with similar abilities, meaning not much difference is made when someone gets injured.

But of course every team needs depth so if you have a small squad and get a couple of injuries, you're in trouble.
