This year's Christmas episodes have definitely lacked compared to previous years. I'm hoping the New Year stuff makes up for that.

The problem is there's a lot of repeating. Like has been said, how many people have threatened to turn Bobby in and then change their mind? How many times has Dean thrown a strop? How many times has Claudette been catty about Mitchells? The car crash is lifted from last year with Ronnie exchanged for Denny, Phil replaces Lauren in the drinking stakes and even Fatboy's death is too close to what happened to Carl White.
Didn't Phil and Ian also have a similar car accident only with Peter and Ben? Although I am sure that one was under water?

They did but the underwater bit is being covered next week with Mick and Dean :P

"That's not too bad"

SCREAMING !!!

About time Shirley finally knows what a creep Dean is.

It's taken exactly 15 months from Linda's rape to reach this point :drama:

I need some Abi related hilarity tbh.

I'm happy with the way Linda's rape storyline has developed (aside from Mick and Shirley constantly and pointlessly falling out all the time) because it was necessary to make an impact (people are meant to be angry at Dean getting away with it). It's the Bobby storyline which has felt like it's just been made up as it's gone on. I liked the period between Lucy's death and the Bobby reveal because there was enough drama at the right times in between but, aside from the couple of weeks in the summer where things were really hotting up, it's been either confusing or too predictable. Far too many people are aware of what happened and each time there was the whole "I'm going to the police bombshell" and then said character just brushes it under the carpet again. We were made to believe there would be a satisfying conclusion this Christmas but Bobby going to boarding school is hardly going to help matters is it?

Anyway, I'm excited for what is to come the next few weeks - post-Christmas to the end of January is always a good pace with decent drama and it looks no different this year. Also, in regards to tonight's episode, was I the only one expecting Johnny to return as Mick's surprise? Has there been any mention of him lately? (or, more likely, any excuse given for him not turning up?).

There was mention in an episode a couple of weeks back that Johnny would be at the wedding.. Perhaps he'll appear as a "surprise" but then perhaps not.
Fantastic episode last night, the best in quite a while! Eastenders now seems to be better at doing New Year's week than Christmas week judging by the last two years. I'm very much looking forward to the rest of this week's episodes!
Anyone else notice that you could just see in Whitney's face that

she is definitely going there with Mick

.

Did anyone else find it creepy/hilarious when Mick was undressing in front of Whitney in the bedroom? I was watching it with some of my family members that haven't seen EastEnders in a long while and we were all laughing our heads off
Omg Linda slaying everyone/everything *.*
Really ready for

Glenda

to return now! This happens on Thursday, yes?

This was the best episode since the live week. Very dark and now i can't wait for the New Years day episode.
