5. Naughty Boy - La La La (feat. Sam Smith)

The one time former Deal Or No Deal contestant Naughty Boy released something without Emeli pissing Sandé and it was a major hit, so of course he ran back to Emeli for the follow-up and hasn't come near this success since. Back when Sam Smith being on a song was actually exciting as well, off the back of 'Latch'.

4. Passenger - Let Her Go

Tne middlingest and roadiest of MOR. Quite a nice little song though.

Let Her Go is quite the lovely little song. Can't hate it at all, especially because his vocals are rather interesting.

3. Avicii - Wake Me Up

Fusion of house and folk/country that became inexplicably popular. Was quite good until it got boring after about 4 weeks. Dan would disagree. Should count as the first of two #1s for Aloe Blacc but Avicii is a dick so it doesn't technically. I imagine more people know Aloe for this than 'The Man' anyway despite his lack of official credit.

SO GOOD. One of the best hits of 2013  Never gets old and was the start of Avicii becoming the truly awesome artiste he is today.
What a song to return to! Still a joyous listen & hasn't suffered as much through overplay as I expected
THE most overplayed song of the year for me but it did re-grow on me and now I'm seeing a lot of what I loved on first listen (still, was the start of Avicii's decline into averageness :()

2. Daft Punk - Get Lucky (feat. Pharrell)

The big comeback for the legendary Daft Punk which very quickly blew up to be bigger than anyone could have expected. Looked like it'd be unstoppable as the biggest hit of the year and possibly the entire decade until its spectacular chart dominance was matched and surpassed not once but twice in the following months. Pharrell wasn't complaining as both of those were his songs too.
