in such a slow week on the albums ~ surely a posthumous #1 for cilla is the most likely outcome from those contenders~

Cilla's never had a UK No.1 album. Her best so far was the No.4 peak of Cilla Sings A Rainbow in 1965.

If Cilla gets the #1 album, she'll be the latest person since Michael Jackson to score a posthumous #1 album

Did Amy Winehouse not get to number 1 with her album after she died? Or Whitney? :o

Amy returned to #1 with "Back To Black" and she also released "Lioness" after her death which also got #1 but Whitney never reached #1 posthumously

Amy Winehouse did get there for 3 weeks, Whitney probably not, because "The ultimate collection" was only allowed in the budget chart - even though i think it might have been the most sold album in one week.

It would have been #4 if allowed in the official chart:

Both albums sold significantly fewer copies than Houston's 2007 compilation The Ultimate Collection, which was the UK's fourth biggest selling album overall last week, with 43,736 sales (19,133 CDs) but charts only as the number one budget album, because of its low price point.

MJ had the posthumous album last year that went to #1 I think?

Yeah he did. With Xscape

Ohhhh. I thought you meant so soon after they died. Didn't realise you meant for newer albums released after they died too!

Dr. Dre significantly outsold Cilla yesterday, if that continues for the rest of the week I expect 'Compton' will manage a second week at #1.

I think Jess Glynne has a pretty decent chance of hanging onto #1 now but I suppose it really rests on how much of an impact the missing Spotify data has. Midweeks are becoming really unreliable lately with all this missing data...

Who'd have thought it...a chart battle between Cilla Black and Dr Dre!!

I'd love Cilla to get a posthumous number one but I don't think it will make it.

Fingers crossed for Jess, I'd love to see her get another number one with easily her best track to date for me!

Yap about DBSHOY!

How did the OCC make such a stupid mistake by having Avrils album in the chart? What idiots and a disappointment to her fans who thought it was re-entering!

I was so happy

I'm slightly confused because it WAS 99p on Google Play seemingly so it's not as if it's sold nothing - maybe they just overestimated the sales? The mids later today (if we get them) should clear things up anyway.

It was £6:99 when I looked. It certainly wasn't on their homepage as a 99p album, so who'd even have known?

Even at 99p that seems unlikely success for an Av-Lav album with no songs a casual buyer would know. I wonder if it was a barcode error?
