I wonder if Sigala could be the final ever #1 to be a held-back release. If we are to believe that all the labels are going to be On Air/On Sale by the end of this month (as one article said they would be), then it seems like it will be. I still fear that the UK will slip back into old habits just like last time we tried On Air/On Sale, but there does seem like a bigger effort this time than last.

AATW and MOS are sticking with lead ins so I think we'll see the odd dance track do it. Sigma & Philip George have new singles out in October but already on radio for instance.

Looks like James Morrison and Naughty Boy have both been pushed back - NB for a second time.

I wonder if we'll see lots of singles going back at the last minute, since everyone's now being really secretive. You might only found out at very short notice that this week is going to be packed full of releases so you have to act quickly. They might be working with radio networks as well - for instance Radio 1 might say "we like it but this week is a bit busy, can you push back the release 2 weeks".

I think that's why Stylo G's new one was pushed back three weeks at the last minute. Before Radio 1 made it their TOTD and playlisted it, it really didn't look like doing anything.

Sigala will be the worst #1 since Omi for me, I think :( Well actually no, it's a tad better than Are You With Me at least.

Sigala  #2 at 0.67, doing very well though will need to pull out a pretty big lead over Bieber to get the official #1

Kygo/Ella #22

Dappy #65

Foxes #74

Marlon Roudette #100

Hearing whispers that some people at the big labels aren't happy with how OAOS is going so far and some are predicting they'll ditch it if it goes badly this Q4

I quite enjoyed Kygo's new track in full last night so good for him doing much better with this (and Mirror Man would be happy for them too :') )

Poor Marlon flopping :nocheer: I haven't heard word of Dappy's track though so must listen to it soon.

49 Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away with Me

New peak for this, I hope it can enter the top 40 within the next couple of days :D

131 Lana Del Rey High By the Beach

Shame this has been stuck on the Radio 1 C-list, hopefully it can recover, I'm sure it'll peak on album release week, anyway - due to cherry picks.

Which number 1 was the most grim in your opinion?

Marvin Gaye definitely, but honestly most of the number 1s this year have just been OK/quite good at best and that's shown especially in the last few months, quite a shame after the year started so well.

Starting to get the feeling Sigala will miss out now :nocheer: Will serve them right for that ridiculous holding back but still a shame.

105. Kwabs - Walk (feat. Fetty Wap)

Released last week and still holding up well, I remember Walk making it big in Germany a while back so I hope with some radio support it can achieve a new peak here

Are there some recent examples where OA/OS hasn't worked? I guess maybe Lana, but the first single from the last album was held back for ages and that flopped anyway. Nick Jonas perhaps?

Yeah, 'Walk' was actually a #1 hit in Germany and always seemed like it had the potential to be much bigger here than it was (#71) so it's fantastic to see this version doing well now, especially with the album coming next week. :D

It's been a really weird campaign, with singles and promo singles chucked out at random times and the album going back. "Walk" and "Perfect Ruin" should've been massive.

Example's latest one springs to mind - R1 stuck with it for a few weeks but it failed to take off. Rita Ora is recovering but still looking a bit shaky. Disclosure & Sam Smith still not top 10 and not likely to be any time soon.
