November 30, 201510 yr Sales info: Adele has already sold 200k+ so far this week, so still averaging above 60k a day: http://www.musicweek.com/news/read/overnig...world-89/063519 - also breaks Oasis' record for fastest to reach a million. 10 days vs. Oasis' 17 days. INSANE. So around 350K this week? :|

We could be looking at 2.5 million sales before the end of the year then with four more weeks left of the year.
November 30, 201510 yr Regarding Coldplay - ignoring Adele - hasn't every big release in the last few years underperformed in week 1? Or is that just outside Q4/Christmas buying season? Edited November 30, 201510 yr by Cauldron

It seems OCC/MW are having a hard time reporting correct figures for Oasis. In this week's Music Week Magazine they say the record was 11 days for Oasis, but in the article above they correct themselves and say the record is actually 17 days for Oasis. There's a big difference between 11 days and 17 days.... The same way there is a big difference between 764k and 813k. *rolls eyes*. It could have caused problems had Adele taken 12 days to reach a million, but in this instance it doesn't matter! First of all- congratulations to Adele, 1 million in 10 days is utterly phenomenal. She must have sold 60k/80k/60k or better this week. Secondly, here we have it- official evidence that the OCC/MW have been messing up their Be Here Now figures. At least this time they admitted it, and kudos to them, although in the end Adele beat the incorrect figure of 11 days anyway. It also categorically shows that the 933k-10 day total for Be Here Now that the OCC quoted in the same sentence as the 11 day million, is also wrong. And with them admitting they got these wrong, well.. I'll not get into the 813k- 7 day debacle again. Well done again to 25 for being fastest to 1m, fastest to 2m looks really achievable too.
November 30, 201510 yr Phenomenal sales for Adele gonna make the number 2 year end look tiny in comparison Looking increasingly likely justin gonna replace himself on the singles chart too crazy to think less than 6 months ago he had no number ones and now he could have 3 in just a few short months
November 30, 201510 yr The record for 'fastest to 2 million' is set by *Shudders* Robson & Jerome so really hoping Adele can beat that, but I think she will easily do it. FTR: Their self-titled debut managed 2 million in 48 days. So she has to get there by early January.

If she got to a million in a week and a half two million by the time the new year rolls round will be a doddle.
November 30, 201510 yr Great sales for Adele, so averaging ~67k/day. On course for 400k+ this week then? :o
November 30, 201510 yr 225K for Adele so far.. Mint Royal confirmed it now, so maybe 400K anyway for this week? :) She will do 2 M until the end of the year... easily? :| 70K+ per day... Edited November 30, 201510 yr by omrimayo
November 30, 201510 yr We could be looking at 2.5 million sales before the end of the year then with four more weeks left of the year. If she does that, it would be the second-highest sales of an album in a calendar year. No need to ask what album has the highest sales :P
November 30, 201510 yr Next question - will she be 2016's best seller also? Most would say yes. Any doubters? Are there any serious challengers that would sell 2 million next year and for 25 to sell less than that? Edited November 30, 201510 yr by Cauldron

Are there any serious challengers that would sell 2 million next year and for 25 to sell less than that? From a quick look at the list of forthcoming releases, Emeli Sande would appear to be the likeliest rival for 2016. Oc course, Ed Sheeran (who would probably have had a second successive EOY number one without Adele) might get revenge by releasing - or ÷ next year.
