I actually adore 'My All', and in an ideal world the tiebreaker wouldn't have been between that & '#Beautiful'... but that's the way the cookie crumbles, and it ends in 15th place.

The 'Butterfly' era was a tricky one for Mariah, who was in conflict with Columbia over single choices (her label was not happy with the album's Hip-Hop direction). 'Butterfly', 'The Roof (Back In Time)' and 'Breakdown' were all given limited releases and little support, but evidently the label was very happy to give 'My All' a proper push - which was the 5th single overall, but only the second to be given a commercial release in the US. It served as the final single from the album.

 

'My All' was well received by critics, and was a particularly big hit in the US & throughout Europe. It became her 13th chart-topper in America, and returned her to the Top 5 in the United Kingdom ('Butterfly' stalled at #22, while 'The Roof' & 'Breakdown' weren't released [but charted at #96 & #132 respectively as Import releases]).
