Although highly unlikely I really hope Coldplay don't spoil their strike at #1 albums! And the new one is very strong, in my opinion it's their best since Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

Tesco's spend over £8 on a CD and get £5 off Kylie Christmas is helping Ms Minogue, she is number 4 on their best sellers today....

 

She is also going well on the ITunes and Amazon download charts and still all of her promo to come.

 

Would love her to get back inside the top 20 next Friday and stay their until Christmas . This album is going to outperform Kiss Me Once

Coldplay already selling what loads of you were insisting they'd sell in one week! :rofl: I knew they'd do well with a Q4 release. Probably do 200 - 300k this week then.

 

If they sell for the rest of the week compared to day 1, in a similar ratio to Adele, then they'll end up with 225-250k - which I doubt would be enough to beat Adele.

 

 

I really hope Coldplay can beat Adele this week.

 

If *they* don't, then I can't see *anyone* shifting her for quite a while!

Be great if Coldplay sell massive and Ghost Stories was a temporary sales lull....ok I know sales across the market had declined and still are declining, except for Adele.....but GS was significantly down because it didn't have the legs of MX and also had the May release date.

 

Previously Take That, and before them Robbie Williams, had Q4 crazy sales success. Coldplay have had it too and they are still very credible and relevant so no reason why they can't be the big Q4 male seller this time round. Don't think a lack of massive lead single will matter. Paradise on the X Factor final 2011 had a spectacular effect and no doubt they will have star billing again if they are one of the acts.

Doubt they'd have got to No.1 even if they'd held it back a week. Adele will have 300k figures right until Xmas now with maybe 500k+ in the week ending Xmas Day. 2 million+ this year is very likely.

I'm sure they'd prefer more lifetime Sales than a higher peak so they still made the right decision.

Why would the NBC special have any effect on UK sales?

I would love for Coldplay to get the number 1 and would have no problem with Adele reclaiming the number 1 the week after. Whether Coldplay take number 1 or not they are opening on brill sales and this album is in a strong position to outsell Ghost Stories which is great to see them improving on sales.

 

Im also hoping to see Take That and Kylie climb this week, not sure how Take That will get on but think Kylie has a great chance of returning to the top 20.

The Coldplay-Adele deficit was 56k after Friday, and 35k after Saturday.

At that rate she'll be 10-20k behind after today, almost neck and neck after Monday, and back well in the lead by end of Tuesday.

Any insider know of Kylies position at the moment??
