December 5, 201510 yr Nice to see people downloading Kylie.... Usually physicals are her forte but she has her 2 Kylie Christmas albums top 20 in both ITunes and Amazon. Fingers crossed she could sneak into the Official top 20 this week
December 5, 201510 yr Pretty shocked at Coldplay, there seems to have been no real buzz around the release.
December 5, 201510 yr Author Pretty shocked at Coldplay, there seems to have been no real buzz around the release. I'm more shocked by these statements! I feel like they have a lot more buzz than the previous release. The single is doing way better than Magic did.
December 5, 201510 yr Nice for Coldplay, surely it was always going to do better than Ghost Stories for the pure fact that it's a December release? Half of its sales will probably be gift buying, an advantage Ghost Stories never had.
December 5, 201510 yr Coldslay *.* I dunno what some of you were on with the predictions last week - Coldplay are arguably the biggest band in the world atm (not intending to start a debate here~), this is a Q4 Christmas time release (and would easily make as good a Christmas gift as Adele/Bieber would, shock horror), their song is doing very well in airplay/sales and it may well be their last ever album. Even if the album was an out of the blue announcement and their not quite as big as they were at their peak, they were always going to attract really high initial sales with it, Ghost Stories was very short, subtle in sound and released outside of Q4, it did really well to get that high first week sales. I don't think they'll beat Adele though and I can see them being quite frontloaded unlike her, 250-300k would be pretty impressive I think. Edited December 5, 201510 yr by Cheznuts
December 5, 201510 yr Have Barack Obama and Beyonce on your album and that's what you get. Go Coldplay!
December 5, 201510 yr If Coldplay get #1 album on Friday, I can see them hanging on at the top for a second week as they'll be performing on next week's X Factor final
December 5, 201510 yr Author If Coldplay get #1 album on Friday, I can see them hanging on at the top for a second week as they'll be performing on next week's X Factor final I think they have no chance. Adele is another likely performer remember, but even then I think Coldplay will be lucky to manage 1 week let alone 2.
December 5, 201510 yr Coldplay sales are great but they are heavily frontloaded since pre-ordering the album gave fans early access to ticket sales for their sold out tour next year. 250k
December 5, 201510 yr There is exactly as much if not more hype for this Coldplay album than the last one, and that one sold 168k in a week in MAY. It was rather silly of people to suggest they'd fall far short of that in December. Having said that, 100k first day is slightly more than even I predicted. Looks like 200k was an underestimate. Pretty surprised Fleur's album is as high as #5.
December 5, 201510 yr So happy Fleur is as high as 5. Can see it slipping into the lower half of the top 10 but even with that, should be looking at selling somewhere between 40-50k which I would be thrilled with.
December 5, 201510 yr in the US they're gonna do half the figure that Ghost Stories did, that's why I thought they'd flop in the UK too but guess I was not counting on the radio support, super promo etc...
December 5, 201510 yr Coldplay sales are great but they are heavily frontloaded since pre-ordering the album gave fans early access to ticket sales for their sold out tour next year. 250k So now the 100k makes sense on the first day.
