How can streaming data not be properly added, it's official chart rule? There can not be a mistake surely.

Sometimes they have to add it in a weighted way because official data isnt available.

Would be funny if the surge in xmas songs from now pushed Justins songs down and people forgot about them!

basically people rely on all streaming data being properly added

Any streaming that is missing will be 'upweighted'. This actually pays to Bieber's advantage because actual streaming always declines on Thursday and is much higher on Friday and Saturday.

£800 bet on JB - looking at Kworb and tears are appearing hahah. I have faith though. ^_^

Edit: I'm not a complete lunatic, a friend and I put £400 on each. :P

£800, what odds are those?

And you have nothing to worry about!

They've got to recover 7000 sales worth to draw level, which I can't see happening what with Justin's stream and also the fact he's been in front of them for so long now.

If this Thursday's data is missing it might be kinda funny, as I'm pretty sure Christmas tracks will be streamed a huge amount, much higher than averagely in the week. And the "upweighted" streams will most likely rely just on Fri - Wed data. So the chart will be not really accurate.

That's so true actually, I'd not considered it but the Xmas songs will miss out on all of the extra streams from Xmas Eve, by virtue of Thursday's data not being available for the chart, as it never is. What a shame, and what a cock up of a system. I'd rather the chart was moved back to Saturday and accurate than be false every week, I don't really trust the final figures that much since streaming was added!

Why is streaming date slower to obtain than downloads?

whenever we get mids, there's always the last day of streams missing... is that why we are assuming Thursday streams have to be estimated rather than based on proper data?? or has it been confirmed by occ/mw?

I know they used estimated data at the beginning of including streams, but do we reckon it happens every week??? if every week they estimate Thu streams, those figures on Friday are too unreliable then

A reminder....Download sales accounted for just 24% of the singles market last week, so gone are the days when following i-Tunes gave you a pretty good idea of what the chart would look like. Without Streaming on your side it is almost impossible to have a No 1 unless you are shifting serious amounts on downloads or physicals (charity CD's, X Factor winners etc- ) so in short NHS would have needed to be way in front with Justin down in the 0.3's for the whole week for them to have actually stood a chance. They were only ahead in initial flashes thanks to streaming not being included, once you include them they were always trailing, and indeed falling further behind as the week progresses.

It's not 24% within the top 40 though is it? Most records in the top 40 have a higher proportion of sales than that.

And I think it's as much OAOS that is making it more difficult to hit #1 than streams, because popular records are trickle selling over several weeks rather than smashing in at #1.

OC:

The battle for the Official Christmas Number 1 remains incredibly close, as the NHS Choir continues to chase Justin Bieber for this year's festive crown.

As things stand in today's sales flash (December 22), Justin's Love Yourself has narrowly extended its lead over The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir's A Bridge Over You, with the two now separated by less than 7,000 combined sales.

Some celebs getting behind the NHS track, which has overtaken Biebs on iTunes now. Needs to continue its momentum but could be closing up at least.

NHS choir stable again now with Justin light green.

Hopefully goes bright red, woke up this morning panicking but 7k lead will be hard to beat, especially as sales are always less in the week and Bieber is obviously still selling and has streams.

I just hope NHS choir don't get another boost from somewhere :/

It's starting to look like 50/50 to me. If Chris Evans plays it tomorrow and Thursday they could it.
I think streaming is still missing to some extent so the lead is more like 10k now. I'd still bet on Bieber.
Guys just a request - can we please try and keep the iTunes and Friday Chart Predictions threads separate? :heehee: This thread is for iTunes chart movement, the other is for midweek information, so let's not mix the two as it defeats the object. Thanks!
