They are confusing physical and digital awards.

Mr. Brightside is now 2x Platinum, that's including streams isn't it as it is yet to sell a million?

Yep, that includes streaming!

I thought Mr Brightside could possibly become one of the last ever million sellers not to go 2x Platinum first

How far off a million is it, just out of curiosity?

Mr Brightside is the first song released in the noughties to go 2x Platinum without selling 1 million copies first. Can't Get You Out of My Head, Poker Face and Chasing Cars were all pushed over the 2x Platinum mark thanks to streaming too, but they'd all already sold 1 million first

Anyone have an estimate for "Stay" by Shakespears Sister it had sold over 600,000 copies by at least Feb 2012, so maybe 700k by now?? surely so including streaming?

Some more trickle sellers awarded Silver thanks to digital downloads.

Crazy that Fly On The Wings Of Love has only just gone silver...it had an amazing chart run but when sales were in the pits.

Surprised "Keep On Movin'" by Five has gone Platinum, it sold less than 500k in its heyday. But I guess that's including streaming too.

I agree - It's the fact it only spent 1 week in the Top 100 that makes it seem such an achievement, There have been many low peaking singles certified recently but many had cloked up a 10+ week chart run at the bottom end of the charts.

Absolutely - I'd say the highest achievement for a low-peaking single is probably 'Mardy Bum' by Arctic Monkeys which went Silver in January. Definitely one of their best known album tracks, in a 'Champagne Supernova' kind of way (which itself went Silver a couple of years ago) but the fact it went no higher than #123 and had only two weeks in the Top 200 is interesting. Not to mention that they have two Top 20s that probably aren't exactly close to the 200,000 mark as well...

'Nina' is the 10th song from x to be certified and the 5th not to be released as a single.

 

'American Idiot' sold just 61k in 2004, meaning 339k since. It's their second best seller, following 'Good Riddance', and I imagine it won't be long until 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' is certified Gold.

 

'Everyday I Love You Less and Less' sold 57k in 2005 and managed a further 25k in 2006 despite a peak of #50 in that year. It has sold 118k since.

 

'If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next' sold 307k in 1998, meaning 93k since.
