No casualties at all yet. 'Pretty Girls' is pretty catchy and was at least a big talking point at my sixth form, but for all the wrong reasons and I think Britney needs something big to return with to try and fix the damage that could have made to her career.

Britney ballads are so hit and miss. How she can go from something so dreary like '...Broken Heart' to haunting moments like 'Lucky' and 'Everytime' is beyond me.

The next one to drop will be another non-album single, any guesses....

Someday (I Will Understand)

Her cover of ILRNR is inexcusable and absolutely the worst thing she's ever put her name to.

I enjoy 'Pretty Girls' and think that's a bit harsh for it, but shan't be crying or anything.

#36. S&M (Remix) (Ft Rihanna)

Avg. 5.756

Highest Rates: 9: (hotchoc26, 152chris), 8.5/8: (Johnjo07, *Rob*, Ivica, Joe, ***, Regina, vibe, DionTheSats123, Jade, Addy King)

Lowest Rates: 0/-1: (Ultraviolence1989, JoeyJeppssonWall, chart wizard, Explozian), 2: (Eyes)

At #36 we say goodbye to the 3rd of the 5 Britney non album singles 'S&M', which is Rihanna's single taken from her 5th album 'Loud' and released as the 3rd single in January 2011. Then in April of that same year it was remixed to feature Britney Spears, which helped it climb to the top of the US Top 100, even while in it's original form, it was riding high in the charts. Therefore becoming Rihanna's 10th #1 hit and Britney her 5th chart topper. Personally I love the song in it's original form, and while both hers and Britney's vocals do go well together, I find that it doesn't add much too it, and just see it as a cheap marketing ploy to give both artists another #1 hit. It did receive several high rates here though, despite no 10's or 11's, instead receiving 2 9's, 10 8's and 8 7's. During the first half of the rates, this was in the top 30, but it started to plummet after receiving several low scores of 4 -1's and 0's and plus 12 other scores of 5 or under. So I wouldn't call this a bad song, by any means, just a bit unnecessary.
S&M is a bad song with or without Britney as far as I'm concerned. Every Britney single is much better than that :(

#35. Anticipating | Britney

Avg. 5.891

Highest Rates: 8: (hotchoc26, Johnjo07, Liam, SamJudd, JoeyJeppssonWall, blackout, RiseR), 7.5/7: (Ivica, #Cody Slayberry, Robot, Kylie Jackson)

Lowest Rates: 0: (152chris), 3/3.5: (Vulker, River Lea, Harryflynn0908)

At #35 we lose the 2nd of the 6 3rd album era singles, 'Anticipating', released in June 2002 as the 6th overall single from 'Britney', in France only, where it peaked at #38, becoming a minor success and becoming her 12th top 40 hit there. If this countdown was based on scores only, then this would have been slightly lower on here, giving the fact that this had less rates than all other songs, 37 out of 42, rated this and plus it didn't receive a score higher than a 8, makes this quite a feat. When I first bought the album, I instantly fell in love with this track and I personally rank it as one of the strongest tracks on there. It has that fun 70's disco vibe to it, with it's infectious chorus and bubbly hooks, that just makes a whole lot of feel good fun. It's a shame that this wasn't made a proper single, as personally I find it a whole lot better than 'ILRAR', and if this was given the full treatment, with a music video to boost, then it would rank a lot higher on here, in my opinion.

Great start (except From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart is beautiful).
I saw him dancing there by the record machine

Went over and kicked his ass he was such a queen

I said "this cover is poor"

"let's play Gimme Moooooore"

#34. Someday (I Will Understand) | Britney & Kevin: Chaotic (EP)

Avg. 5.902

Highest Rates: 10: (Johnjo07, blackout, toxic air), 9: (Ivica), 8: (Luciano, JoeyJeppssonWall, PAJ88)

Lowest Rates: -1/0: (***, DionTheSats123), 3: (Mr Pmt, vibe)

At #34 we have 'Someday (I Will Understand)', released in August 2005, as the first and only single from her EP 'Britney & Kevin: Chaotic', and written while she was pregnant with her first child and a few months before announced her engagement to Kevin Federline, which would begin a chain of events that would spiral into her meltdown. This would also feature on her and Kevin's reality show, that chronicled the early stages of their relationship, and this song would premiere at the end of the show's run. This would also come at a time, where everything was moving very fast for her, firstly not long after releasing her 4th album, along with it's tour and recording of her 5th studio album 'Original Doll', which would never see the light of day, and plus her whirlwind romance to Kevin Federline, things were about to take their toll, so it was only right for her to take a break. As for this number, Britney's ballads have always been a bit hit and miss, and this one, while it's okay enough and quite nice, it sadly falls into the miss section, and has become one of her least known songs, due to it not getting released in the UK or USA markets. Upon release it did receive some success by reaching top 10 peaks in Hungary, Italy, Denmark, Sweden & Switzerland. Based on just the scores, this would have been a lot lower, due to it getting less rates than some of the others, but based on average it's settled for this position.
I really like both versions of S&M, but I still consider it a Rihanna song, so I'm glad it hasn't beat any of my Britney favs.
I like the original S&M a lot but I find the remix really pointless. It adds nothing to the song and it actually detracts from it because I find Britney's parts nasally and quite grating, they sound demo-y.

YAY Pretty Girls flopping! :cheer:

Ooh La La didn't really deserve last place though  and poor S and M :(

'Someday (I Will Understand)' is ridiculously under appreciated!

#33. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know | Oops I Did It Again

Avg. 5.925

Highest Rates: 8.5/8: (DionTheSats123, PAJ88, Jay, RiseR), 7.5/7: (Luciano, Johnjo07, *Rob*, Ivica, Casey, Regina, Robot, Lukuzz, toxic air, SevenSeize, Addy King)

Lowest Rates: 2: (Jade, Mr Pmt), 3: (LushLifeLee)

At #33 we lose another Britney ballad 'Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know', released in March 2001 as the 4th and final single from her 2nd album 'Oops I Did It Again', which also makes this the first from that era to drop out. This is stated by Britney herself as one of her favourite songs, she's ever recorded, and in a way, I can see why, it is very grown up and her voice does sound very mature on it, and it does show a different side to her and the fact that one of the co-writers on this, is none other than country megastar Shania Twain, does add another flavour to it. As for the song itself, well.. it's nice enough, but kinda just plods along and doesn't have that wow factor. The music video is very sexy, and is said to be inspired by Janet Jackson's 'Love Will Never Do (Without You)', as it's very simple with Britney being intimate with some hot guy on a beach. Originally 'When Your Eyes Say It' was meant to be the 4th single and even had a video shot for it, but was cancelled for unknown reasons. Whether that would have been a better choice, I don't know, but with an album packed full of gems, there were certainly much better choices, such as 'Can't Make You Love Me', which would have been my choice, but oh well. Upon release it wasn't as successful as her previous singles by becoming her first to fail to chart on the US Top 100, instead peaking at #112. Considering the album had already broken records and sold millions by this point, it wasn't going to affect her career wise anyway. Elsewhere it had more success by hitting top 10 in Austria and Switzerland, while making top 20 peaks in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Finland and Norway, while finally making top 40 peaks everywhere else.

#32. Outrageous | In The Zone

Avg. 5.937

Highest Rates: 10: (Regina), 9: (blackout), 8.5/8: (Luciano, Liam, *Rob*, Ivica, Casey, #Cody Slayberry, toxic air)

Lowest Rates: 0: (Mr Pmt, Beatrix Kiddo, ***, 152chris), 3.5/3: (SamJudd, Euphorine, LushLifeLee)

At #32 is 'Outrageous', released in July 2004 as the 4th and final single from her 4th album 'In The Zone'. Written and produced by R Kelly, and it shows with it's shallowness and bland style. It was originally selected to be the lead single, but thankfully Britney pushed for 'MATM' instead. It was also selected to be the theme song for the 'Catwoman' movie, but along with it's music video, all was cancelled due to a knee injury, and the film was a total flop anyway and panned by everyone. This track shows Britney attempting a R&B sound and trying for street cred, by having Snoop Dogg in the video and doesn't come off as entirely convincing and the song's stale production really lets it down. The album it comes from is fantastic however and successfully blends all different styles of genres, and many of those tracks would have made worthy singles, such as fan favourite 'Breathe On Me', 'Early Mornin' or even 'Touch Of My Hand', anyone of those could have been potential smashes in their own right. After this era got off to a rousing start with the 1,2,3 punch of it's first 3 singles, it was such a shame that it had to end with this bland number. Upon release, it was only released in the USA and nowhere else due to Britney's knee injury and not able to promote it, and therefore it managed to peak at #79 on the US Top 100, becoming her 13th single to enter the top 100. Of note this only beat 'DLMBTLTK' by 0.5 points, and it was a very close battle between the 2.
