Not exactly 'New' given that about 10 other people have commented on them already charting

It's direct from Kworb, the Kworb chart states the chart change in a song in the last 24 hours, explaining the 'NEW' label. :P

I hate to look like I'm spamming but interestingly, and incredibly coincidentally, Purple Rain by Prince has been hanging around in the top 100 of the Swedish iTunes charts for the last few days - almost as if they had envisioned it in advance. It wasn't 59p or anything so it's just pure coincidence. :o

That would have only required about three sales a day, it was probably just used in the soundbed of a news report about his flu a few days ago and had been lingering around.

3. Purple Rain - Prince & The Revolution

Next stop, #1. Although it won't happen, it would be nice to see this re-enter the top 40

Prince update

3. Purple Rain (also #38 & #82)

47. Little Red Corvette

51. 1999 (also #67 & #140)

There's a fake version of "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" at #126. Would be nice to see "Purple Rain" re-enter the top 40 tomorrow but sadly, that won't happen

I'm not sure where to post or ask about this but does anyone have total sales for Prince albums and singles? Would be good to start a thread if anyone has this information - I'd be really interested in it!

Or if you can point me in the right direction to finding this information ~

I'm hesitating between The Very Best Of Prince and Ultimate Prince. What would you say is the best?

I couldn't believe the news when I read the headline on Digital Spy. :o :( 57 is no age to pass these days.

I'm glad (if that's the right word?) that Purple Rain, When Doves Cry and Kiss are the 3 highest. Also shocked that PR only peaked at #8 originally. Hopefully it can be a posthumous #1 for him but with streaming included these days I doubt it. :(

I think Purple Rain has a good chance of re-entering the top 40 next week, although its non-existent streaming will probably stop it from getting into the top 20. Can't see any of his other tracks getting into the top 40 though.

TBH I can see 'Purple Rain' becoming a big streaming hit.

Except it's not on Spotify. (Or any streaming site except Tidal)

Oh riiiight! :o

Aw man, that's a shame! :(

I'll avoid making a new thread for the time being for I am sure the OCC will rack up a list (although it may be of his most downloaded than overall sales, but we'll see) but this is what I could find:

Total: 6.4m (3,700k as just Prince, 1,350k as Prince & The Revolution, 1,150k as Prince & The New Power Generation and 225k as Symbol/Artist Formerly Known As Prince)

Same source estimated Purple Rain to be on 975k as of February 2015, selling 5-10k per year.

Thank you very much Liam! Some of those single sales are SHOCKINGLY bad. 70k for a song as sublime as 'Diamonds and Pearl'!?

At least the album sales are strong.

'I Would Die 4 U' has only sold 30k?! That's actually insane.
